i always make my appoinments at 430pm. I know they want to get out of there at 5pm

I scheduled one at 8:30am a few months back...nurse even said its the first apt of the day. Dr. was an hour late

That is understandable, but their assistants ought to contact the waiting patients and ask if they would like to reschedule due to an emergency. It is absolutely unacceptable with modern communications to have people waiting around for hours like that. I've had this conversation with some of my physician friends, and they agree that it is either a rude doctor or a poorly trained staff that would allow that to happen.

They are not going to be on time on most occasions. If you're that desperate to be seen on time, ask his staff what day he doesn't do procedures, and schedule for that day. If he's in surgery at some point everyday, then get over it. He won't be on time.
And I'll bet when its your old arse knee he has the scope in, you'll want him to take his sweet fricking time as well. It's surgery, not an oil change. If you'e doing 4-5 cases a day, they are not always going to go as planned.
Same for urologist, gastros, general surgeons, etc...

Absolutely correct. BUT, there physician will likely scream them down for cancelling a block of patients b/c he's late. Those clinical appointments usually lead to new surgeries, which leads to $$$$.
I'd say he wouldn't have a problem with rescheduling the f/u's, but its likely a mid-level seeing you for that anyway.

Many times docs get called out for last minute surgeries or may be running late from surgeries. They'll get to you when you can so sit down and STFU.

I go to my regular Dr once a year for physical.
Everything else I do at Kroger or Walgreen's or TriStar clinics including my kids.
They can dose out antibiotics, do vaccines and take xrays.
Don't know how traditional drs stay in business.
Oh and they're 5 minutes away and I can shop for groceries while the kids are seeing the practitioner.

I'm the same way. I will ask the receptionist to reschedule me at a time I can be seen promptly. My schedule is very flexible, but I cannot stand anybody thinking their time is more valuable than mine.

99% of Dr visits are handled by nurses. You really wait 2 hours so your doc can breeze in.. glance at your chart and say 'any questions?' as he's heading for the door?

Doctors schedule appointments for 30 minutes to an hour before they even get there.
I've scheduled an 8 o'clock appt, only to sit in the waiting room (with several others) until 9 when the doctor comes rolling in.
