Well medical studies have shown that consumption of the placenta does lead to decreased cases of PPD.
Personally, I see some causality issues with the studies, but true nonetheless.

Many C sections are because the mom is a fatass. Which also explain obesity, allergies, and aids (that last one is for the ot)
