Wait, they did a biopsy? Scientific American said an abnormal mammogram meant unnecessary chemotherapy.
Yes. The same thing they did when my Grandmother had a potential cancerous mass show up on her mammogram in 2021.

My wife had her gallbladder out in her 30's...If she ate fatty foods it would cause an "attack" of sorts. One was bad enough to where her friends called EMS because it mimicked chest pains (I wasn't home at the time). Ultrasound showed gallstones. Seems that with gallstones the attacks are worse.
Yes, a gallbladder attack can feel like a heart attack. It's similar for men as well.

I don't understand it but it must be a woman thing...they think of the worst possible scenario and focus on that.
Gallbladder issues? There's a pretty good correlation between hormone fluctuations and gallbladder issues. Higher levels of estrogen create issues with cholesterol in the system (that help form gallstones). It's why it's not uncommon for women with multiple pregnancies to also end up with their gallbladder removed.
So no, it's not just some random woman complaint.

I had my gallbladder removed in Dec 24. Surgeon said I had a stone the size of a golf ball.
I had pain bad enough that I didn’t eat for 3 1/2 days prior to the surgery. I can’t imagine anybody having a large gallstone blocking the duct without pain - but that’s assuming the stone is blocking the duct. I had the same large stone with no pain for some time before it became a problem.

What prompted her to get the ultrasound?
Was bloodwork not ordered as well? It won't tell the whole story but it can provide some hints if there's something else at play. Best of luck to her, I had abdominal pain in the same spot for 7 weeks before I went to the doctor. He ordered an ultrasound and bloodwork. It's pretty easy for your mind to go to the worst possible scenario.
Even if it is a tumor, that doesn't mean it's spread, and it happens to be in an organ that they can just cut out and she can live a normal life without. Gallstones are pretty common though.

Just get the surgery done as soon as possible. That will answer all of your questions. While cancer in the billiary track can happen it can be treated and it sounds like your sister is in good health.

Can you post pics? Many things to consider here. Wall continuity. Dependent location. Shadowing. Etc.
Differential is broad but includes cholelith, sludge, neoplasm, adenomyomatosis, etc.

Did they tell her immediately?

No.
The results were sent to her GP.
He emailed her the next day

No, not just the gallbladder.
I meant pretty much everything in general.
It might just be all the woman in my wife's family.

I had my gall bladder removed a few weeks ago. It had a large gallstone and was filled with bile. They had to remove 60 CCs of bile before they could get it out. Pathology report says it was starting to go gangrenous.
I had an attack a few days before the surgery (how I found out I had an issue) and it felt like someone was repeatedly kicking me in the back.
When I woke up from surgery, I could immediately tell I felt better and the recovery was pretty easy.

Listen to GP. Stay off the internet.
That’s bad advice. Never trust a single doctor on anything important. Be your own primary care physician. Research everything, then verify your conclusions with actual doctors. Most doctors - and this is true of every profession - are incapable of advanced critical thought.

I find waiting for the results of medical testing to be excruciating. I have also found that the longer you have to wait for them, the better chances you are going to hear good news,

To the OP, as many as stated, stay off the internet.
