I think so. It's weird they are all last named "Kinfoke" though

Hollywood movies and TV reality shows support this conclusion.

I watch a lot of First 48 and they all seem not to know any of their friends' last names. Usually I hear something along the lines of "I just know him as Pookie."

They intentionally don't use last names. They don't use real names at all. Makes snitching imposssible.

They call each other June bug and lil boo.

I'll admit I forget names faster than most, but I doubt I could tell you the first name of 70% of the people that were in my fraternity. Partially because it's been a few years, but mostly because everyone went by last name.

According to the latest Tupac film, they only address themselves with the N word so, no.

It's rooted in Junior High and High School football where the coach calls every kid by his last name. Whites respect authority and thus mimic/emulate the behavior.

Black folks all have nicknames. Almost all of them. I know black guys called "Boss", "OG", "meat", "Puck", "pee-wee", "Killer", "Seventh", "Eddie Ray" etc. all of those are real street names of people I've met. I could go on..
