Do you work on vacation?

How many workaholics are on the OT?
Personally it's limited to the occasional email or phone call, but I make a big effort to keep work at work.

Unfortunately, I really don't have much of a choice.

I barely work at work. On my time off I often forget that I have a job.

Most of the time yes, but...
My boss called me today and said, "I know you are vacation next week. I want you to actually take vacation. You have worked enough this year"

Phone calls to and from office
Often try to find continuing education hours where the wife and kids will enjoy the trip

I typically plug up for an hour or two and deal with whatever needs to be done to keep things moving (mostly e-mails)...
as you can see, I drift over to other things when the work is done, though...

I make myself available by phone to answer questions that only I can answer, but I'm not going to break out the laptop and log into the network unless it's an emergency.

I'll check my phone for emails periodically. For sure in the morning and in the evening before bed, maybe once or twice during the day.
If I'm on vacation, I make every effort to do as little work stuff as possible.

Same.
Data never sleeps.

Nope.
My email has the out of office reply on it when I go and I let calls go to voicemail.
On vacation, I make the time with my family the most important part of the trip

Nope, pretty much not at all.
I don't get work e-mails on my phone, and if my boss really needed me he could call, but I try to get things taken care of and lined up ahead of time.

same, but I don't really GAS about the public when I'm on vacation, I check it more so if our staff or my bosses need something pressing.

Lately, a vacation for me is working from home.

Not a workaholic but I don't abandon the people that report to me or my clients. An hour or so a day responding to emails, texts, calls isn't that bad really.

I've done it a few times. If I'm at the beach, it's pretty easy to get some work done from the balcony early in the morning.

I don't work on vacation a ton, just depends what happens.
But my work week is Tues-Saturday with Sunday and Monday being my weekends and I work at least 3-4 hours every Monday.

Do you bill out for those hours of work you do?

I used to work a lot when on vacation. Now, I pretty much totally disconnect. I'll read emails but not respond. Vacation is time to de-stress. I take full advantage.
