I figure the six drinks I bought each of them in the lounge before we took off was good enough.

You must be really old. It's at least 20% now, usually I go 25% unless the plane bounces a few times.

They make 6 figures. I think they are fine.

The majority of pilots do not make 6 figures

You're doing god's work, good sir. There is nothing sadder than seeing a pilot drinking by himself in the lounge before a flight. Good on you.

No, but if the stewardess is attractive then I offer her the tip.

I think it makes better sense to tip them before the flight

Citation X by Cessna is a ballers plane. Equal to the Gulfstream.

Hum...

According to article in Time:::

avg cost per passenger on US airline ~ $200
at 200 people per flight ~ $40,000
at 150 flights per year ~ $6,000,000
so 10% ~ $600,000
split between the 2 pilots ~ $300,000 in tips per year, mostly in cash (so not claimed on taxes )

If this were the norm, I'd be looking into flight school now.

In all seriousness you should tip the pilot if you fly private. Unless I guess it's your jet and your pilot(in which case you'd bonus them), but when I have I did tip the crew.

You posted a CJ, which is nice and single pilot. They quit making the citation X which is kind of a bummer although that means you can find some good deals on the pre owned market.

I told one the other week that he looked really captain-y, like a pilot on a commercial. He was confused.

I let them sleep with my wife.

Same tip that I give Maître D's and carnival ride operators.
