Do you think you hear more, less, or about the same sirens now than when you were a kid?

For myself it’s almost a constant these days with the number of sirens from ambulances, fire trucks, or police, mostly fire engines, to that of when I was a kid, or that’s the way it feels like, but I’d like to hear your take, and if there is something driving it.

Less today. But I’m not surrounded by culture anymore.

More, but I grew up in what was effectively the country at the time. We live in the city limits now. I heard more gunshots too growing up but they weren't the concerning kind

I live in a dense urban area now vs growing up in a smaller town so of course I hear more now.

Much more. It’s a small town but almost constantly day and night. Growing up in the 70s and 80s it was rare and got your attention

There were always plenty of sirens in the part of Houston I grew up in, so I’m not sure it’s more now.
Mostly hear fire trucks or ambulances responding to an older population that stayed in their houses.

In my school days, a siren would go off as a tornado passed and they would send an announcement on the loudspeaker to flip the desk and that pizza would be served in 20 minutes. Today they cancel classes for 3 weeks over rain and the possibility of sleet with 35-40 degrees temps upcoming.

I was actually thinking about this recently. Walked outside one night and could smell that familiar smell. Seems like it was more frequent in the 80’s or 90’s. City budget might have something to do with that.
