Yes. I’ve been in very rural Argentina. There’s nothing there except for some small towns. Buy a small house, call it a day.

I can make it to Costa Rica in 2 days if I drive the whole way without stoping.

You reset that clock every time you cross a border in your car because you're leaving breadcrumbs every time unless you plan on doing that illegally. If you do cross illegally, that's just another thing to get noticed for in your new country.

20 years? No. Six to twelve months? Maybe.

Here's what I do.

Disappear. Then find an internet cafe. Hack the FBI/CIA/Law Enforcement databases with my facial recognition stuff on them. Change that so that when they search for my face, they are actually searching for someone else's. Then hack the social security database and change my social security number. Then delete all online references to my prior self.

Winning!

Cameras in Tropic, Utah

Way too public in Tropic.

The answer you seek is Boulder, UT or somewhere in Central Nevada. But those are just a jumping off point for a walk about.

Yes, I could. Over 20 years you would need medical care, so the US would not be an option, unless you could establish a new identity, and I don't know how to do that.

I would get $500,000 in cash (I could do that in two days), some raggedy clothes and steal a car.

I would drive into Mexico by starting east. After dark, I would circle north then west. Before daylight I would get on some back roads going west, and I would not get back on an interstate until I was halfway through Texas. I would abandon the car about 10 miles north of the Mexican border, by driving it into a river or lake, and cross on foot.

The dangerous part would be hiding the $500,000 cash. I would then make my way to Venezuela, bribe the politicians, and live among them. I would establish an identity and begin working as an electrician. In two years I would assume a role as an electrical engineer. I think I would have a $300,000 nest egg left over.

Perhaps not in the way you intended to disappear, however.

eah but I imagine it is much harder to find someone using facial recognition when you have no clue how they aged. I doubt facial recognition works on people using a 20 year old photo.

Facial recognition will not even be available in the most remote areas of the country and probably not even in small communities either. Even if it was then wear a hat, sunglasses, and grow a huge beard you will be good.

Even if you get a few days head start, they would still be able to track you with any any all video cameras in airports, docks, parking lots, interstates. As soon as they have you on camera getting out at a destination, the search area is narrowed down immensely. They would find any amateur, especially an American with no native language skills.

Without someone's help no. Unlimited funds would make it easier but you'd need an assist.
