5 day head start, sure. Less than that, it gets difficult.

Let’s say after 20 years they give up on the hunting you down. So you have to disappear for 20 years.

I’d be in my 60’s in 20 years so I would probably either die or slip up and get caught somehow

I mean when we say disappear, are you still interacting with society and getting groceries. If so then no, they could find you. Cameras, tracking, all it would take would be one person to stop you or try and pattern your moves

In order to disappear it would take money to leave your life, and if you wanted to strictly go Jeremiah Johnson it’s possible - just would have to be really well at not being seen or detected

Absolutely.
I could stay in LA and they still wouldn’t find me.

Cameras in Tropic, Utah or Cleveland, TN. are not being monitored for your appearence by the CIA. You are a needle in the haystack of the country. They can't monitor millions of cameras.

Yea.

With time to plan.

Do you have any idea of how hard it is to find someone who doesn't want to be found?

Especially if they have the time to plan and the resources to start a new.

The same behavioral scientists that profile serial killers will analyze your personality and figure out where you're likely to be hiding. After that it's just a matter of time and patience.

Remember when Derrick Todd Lee was profiled as white, probably educated, and disarming and friendly? I do.

Those profiles are fairly generic. They cant pick out where you'll head. And, even if they got lucky, how many areas of that sort exist in this country?

They have people now who have been successfully hiding from law enforcement for decades.

There's a lot of what-ifs here.

Am I just disappearing for no reason out of the blue one day?
Are the authorities actively looking for me when I leave?
How much cash do I have?
Do I speak a language that will help me in my new land?
Am I a 6'5" whitey who will only be able to blend in countries with heavy electronic surveillance or is my racial makeup conducive to disappearing in a less developed country?

I guess my answer is a solid "Maybe. It depends."

No. I don’t think I could get my supplies in line no matter how hard I prepared. I’d have to have a series of accomplices and couldn’t trust them in the long haul. They’d find really anyone.

And the criteria is your own finances vs the government’s. Unless you’re extremely rich, you don’t stand a chance in this scenario unless you starve yourself on a small raft in the middle of the ocean. Any island you think traveling to the government will think of as well.

Eh....

There's strong evidence that profiling is bullshite.
