Imagine technology has ushered in post-scarcity society with medical immortality and unlimited energy. Fully automated so no work as well, and I understand this premise is far into the future. Do you think humans could be happy in such a world without conflict or pain, or are the genetic roots of tribalism too deeply ingrained for man to be happy without an obstacle to overcome and define himself in doing so.

I think we would go bat shite insane and blow ourselves up or just be screwing 24/7. Or both.

No,not if there are other humans there. People always have conflicts, brains are too big to live without challenges. Anybody with an ounce of ambition would be miserable.

Simple but accurate. If you could have anything you wanted the second you wanted, what the shite is the point. You might as well just let someone put you under with a morphine drip and go catatonic all your days.

Technology would view humans as a threat and an illogical obstacle of efficiency... they will kill us all

As for the classic idea of utopia... it strips away identity of the individual, creating mindless drones with no variants... Nobody would be happy

People derive a large part of their self worth and identity from the role they fill in society. Ambition without the ability to pursue those ambitions seems like my definition of cookie cutter hell.

No. We are a species which thrives and advances secondary to chaos and upheaval.

"Utopia" marks the decline and failure of our species.

No, social hierarchy will inevitably take over and ruin everything. Even if you broke everyone up into their own Utopian colonies where people chose who they wanted to live with.

Someone is going to try and take control while others will always try and do the exact opposite of what needs to be done.

Seems like people are too bored with the amenities we have today. Just look at how many get riled up over stupid shite they read on Facebook or 24/7 news networks.

I imagine a real Utopia would decompose when people realize that messing with others is more fun than a perfect world.

Nope. Humans need a challenge.

My biggest fear is that life's getting so easy, those that should be weeded out of the gene pool are surviving and thriving.

Ask the big govt. liberals and socialists what they think of prison life.

Afterall, prison provides all the same level of food, clothing, housing, free med care, there's one rule of law inside for everyone, the only guns are in the hands of the authorities, the safety and well being is completely in the hands of the govt.. Utopia for socialists, communists, big govt. loyalists!
