No one knows. But you'll get a bunch of arrogant responses in here from accountant and plant operators about how sure they are of exactly what was going on five thousand years ago. Same dudes will believe Moses split the Red Sea with his staff but will make fun of the idea that there was some oversized humanoid.
I don't believe there was or wasn't. Honestly I don't know. I just hate people who automatically dismiss stuff knowing damn good and well they have zero knowledge on the subject (neither do i)

Its like power of prayer. If prayer really works? Why are we still doing it?
Because if something works then you keep doing it. You should try it sometime

It doesn’t work. Need proof? Everyone’s prayed for poverty to end. Still here. Someone has life threatening illness and you pray; you prayed for them to die quickly or be cured of the illness? GTFOH

Also, Denisovans are still very much unknown in terms of there morphology, but early estimates show they were very tall.
Should’ve stopped after the first part. There is no reason to think that Denisovans were very tall…much less that they were the giants from the Bible.

Suit yourself, I don’t pray for those things. Everyone dies

So, yeah, I do believe a man named David killed a giant named Goliath.
The oldest manuscripts, including the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Septuagint, and the writings of Josephus, describe Goliath as being four cubits and a span tall, roughly 6’ 9”. In contrast, later manuscripts record his height as six cubits and a span, likely due to a scribal error. Considering the time period, anyone over 6 feet tall would have been considered a giant, though Goliath’s height was likely not beyond what is plausible for human physiology.
What’s fascinating about the story is that David essentially brought a gun to a knife fight, yet everyone else saw him as the underdog. From a historical perspective, it’s intriguing, did people not recognize the devastating power of a sling at the time?

Oh so then you don’t pray! Or is it when only something good happens you praise god for it? But not before it happens. Cause I assure you you’d be let down 90%+ of the time

quote:Apparently he doesn’t. He prays for more poverty and starving children. His prayers work.
Everyone’s prayed for poverty to end.

Good grief. I work in medicine, have seen plenty of death. You can’t stop death of the body ultimately but one can always pray for their soul and peace.

Watchers weren't giants. Their offspring (Nephillim) with the daughters of man were the giants.
Lots of giant things in those days though.
Trees were 40K ft tall and the archangels came down to cut them down before the flood.
The Earth and human gene pool were truly corrupted. Animal slicing. Everything. True wickedness far beyond just some random bad decisions by civilizations.
Fallen angels also taught women about makeup and taught men how to make metallic weapons and astrology, etc. Truly crazy times.
Sounds like the prequel to Independence Day

It's not physically possible for human bodies to get more than about 9 feet, and the people who approach that range are effectively disabled and physically incompetent.

What’s interesting though is the same people that believe the Son of God was birthed through a Virgin, traditionally don’t want to have a conversation about giants. (Genesis 6 Numbers 13:33)
I make no comment about Jesus's birth, but human bodies cannot grow into giants. It's literally not physically possible.
Familiar yourself with the "square-cube" law.
LINK
quote:
Nevertheless, let's entertain this (albeit briefly). Giant 24-meter (80-foot) tall humans are not possible. We did warn you the entertaining would be brief.
It's all because of the square-cube law, which states that as the size of any object grows (be it a cube or an accountant) its volume grows faster than its surface area. The area grows in proportion to the square of your size, whereas your volume scales up in proportion to the cube of your size.
So as you scale up humans, our volume dramatically increases in proportion to our size, while the cross-section of our muscles and bones are squared. Say you are 18 meters (60 feet) tall – 10 times the height of a 1.8-meter (6-foot) tall person – your body would have to support 100 times the volume.
A cubic inch of bone can support 8,600 kilograms (19,000 pounds), which is a lot, but at 180 meters (60 feet) tall it would need to support well over 250,047 kilograms (551,259 pounds) (assuming we're scaling up a 63 kilogram or 10 stone person, the average weight for a human).
This is ignoring the organ and circulation issues that would be present.
Summary: our muscles, bones, internal organs, and bodily systems cannot scale up in that manner. There is a literal limit to what our evolved state can be.

Peace would equal death no? Just a euphemistic way of praying for death

Correct. Just as George Washington was seen as incredibly tall thousands of years later standing about 6-2.

I agree and have chuckled about this throughout my lifetime, but I just chalk it up to evidence of how the Bible is an allegory and not a historical document.
