Holy shite, I was about to call you out but I googled first. I could have sworn it was "Aubrey"

I've been saying it wrong all my life apparently, I'm an idiot.

If you like to go to an America that didn't punish men for abusing their wives and kids. Where a couple of races were treated very badly until war time then they were all of sudden good enough to die to protect the rights of others.

Much higher infant mortality rates, worse treatment for infection and disease, more violent. Sounds much happier doesn't it.

If you had never had AC in your life, it probably wouldn't be so bad. You wouldn't know what you are missing, plus the heat is worse now because of all that global warming

Have you ever talked to old people? The ones I've talked to will tell you that those days were better. My grandparents on my Dad's side often didn't even lock the doors when they left the house.

I'm old as the hills and I can attest to that. We never locked our doors. In fact, it once got accidentally locked and the back screen door had been latched, so I had to climb thru a window because nobody had a key.

There was a much more civil society then. Vulgarity and disrespect were very rare - not tolerated. Up thru my teenage years there was one murder in the area - a town 15 miles away. My dad drove over there just to see where it had happened.

Everyone had a mother and a father at home. I was 23 years old before I ever saw anyone who had a divorce in their family.

The culture then was much more refined. Today we are plagued with vulgar disrespect at every turn and have to accept it to show we are not 'haters.'
I'd trade today for the 50s so we could do all the good stuff over again - and get it right this time = prevent the civil rights movement from becoming hijacked by the DEMs as their vote-plantation.

The 1980's were the pinnacle of society. A nice mix of modern conveniences, yet you could still let your kids roam around the neighborhood and leave your doors unlocked, and have a gun rack in your truck and drive it to school. I think things started going downhill in the mid-nineties.
