Jobs everywhere problem is too many lazy fricks.

I work in IT for a large commercial contractor based in Dallas. It's stable but there isn't any room to move up right now.
There it is. IT and any role related to tech, especially in the Dallas area, has been completely taken over by Indians. There is a reason schools in the Prosper, Celina, Frisco, Plano, Coppell, and Irving areas are over 50% indian these days
I had to leave the DFW area last year because I got laid off and replaced by an H1B for the 3rd time since 2020. Every single job interview I would do for roles in the Dallas area I'd eventually run into an Indian gatekeeper whose sole purpose was to ensure only Indians of the right caste got jobs and any American candidate got rejected.
They only hire their own. I know so many in IT who can't find work in Dallas and aren't lucky like me who can move to another state for work as they are tethered to the metro area.
Greg Abbott has sold out Texas for Indians.

H1Bs did this, and will continue to screw us for the foreseeable future. Yes, they're nowhere near as good as I am, but they also get paid 35% of what I do, adjusted for experience. Also, for O&G, 90% of the job postings I get from BP every week are in Pune, as an example. It's hilarious that everyone has a hard on for RTO, yet they continue to offshore the shite out of jobs.
While a lot of H1Bs do get paid well below market rates I think these days its just as much about kickbacks that green card managers get.
Look at that story about the Wal Mart VP who was getting thousands of dollars in kickbacks every day from H1B shell companies by only hiring Indians from said shell companies.
A lot of VPs and green card managers own H1B shell companies like Cognizant, Tata, HCL, etc. and its one giant grift ecosystem where these green card hiring managers/VPs only hire Indians from said H1B shells.
Basically the H1B grunts are employees of the H1B shell companies who solicit C2C contracts from corporations with Indians in hiring roles. The H1B shell company will bill the company $120/hr for an Indian H1B but will only pay the H1B contractor $30 an hour and then split the $90/hour difference with the shell company and the hiring manager
Wage arbitrage and kickbacks

Just left a meeting that is usually attended by Mary.
No more Mary.
Replaced by AI.
Mary landed another role. Good news.
The employment world will be turned upside down in the name of shareholder return. Bad news.
Even if you are the shareholder. Your job is likely at risk too. May the cap gains / dividends feed your hungry kids.

I do. Especially if more people continue to celebrate Charlie Kirk's assassination.

Kind of seems like that everywhere though. I've applied to positions in other cities and haven't had any luck.

A lot of the jobs you apply for might be ghost jobs, or they might be real but the company isn’t in urgent need, so they can afford to be very, very selective. The best thing you can do is lean on your professional network rather than job postings. Very few people are able to get a job from just applying.
It’s rough out there, though. I had a job I was well qualified for and went through two interviews for, but they ghosted me after the second interview. Now I see that the job has been posted again. I suppose I was a poor interview. There's a lot that has to go right to find a job and there are plenty of pitfalls at each step.

Not until companies stop using automated resumé reading software.
Don’t know what it is with that stuff, but even before 2020 it would always toss my applications by default. Ended up getting a job through a family member.

Yes, the benefits of tariffs will kick in any day now, so we'll see an explosion of jobs coming back. Or so I'm told

I hear bankruptcy law is taking off big time. Maybe you can do that.

It likely is but DFW is extremely bad with this.
I got laid off in June after 20 years with my company but was extremely fortunate to find a remote job at a very, very good company. Someone mentioned so much can go wrong out of your control. I interviewed for a company and absolutely killed it the first three interviews. I know this because the recruiter and hiring manager told me. Interviewed with the VP and it did go well. We had a great conversation so I was pretty confident. Come to find out I didn't have experience with a certain ERP system. He never communicated this to the recruiter or his team. So he passed. It ridiculous because it isn't like it is something that cant be learned. The hiring manager was pissed. I then went through the interview process with my new company lighting fast. 4 rounds and took two weeks form initial contact to offer. My past experience I think was invaluable. I could see they had over 300 applicants on Linkedin but I think I may have been the only one they spoke with. The hiring manager and I vibed from the moment we first talked, so like I said...luck definitely plays a part. There will always be people you vibe with and others you don't. Lucky to find someone who has similar past professional and life experiences. Obviously having relevant past experience is a big thing but having soft skills it just as valuable. People want to hire people they like. I also really appreciated I had feedback form the company within 1 or 2 hours that I was moving to the next phase. After my final round of interviews ended at 3 on Friday by 4 the recruiter called and told me they needed to do a reference check and if that came back solid I was getting an offer. It was absolutely refreshing after dealing with playing the waiting game with other companies.
The new job pays way better too and the company is actually growing strong and has for year. A complete opposite of my last company. It was a very stressful 3 months but worth it in the end.

Yea. Resume needs to be in an ATS-friendly format that can be properly read by applicant tracking systems. Use ChatGPT to review your resume alongside a job description for suggestions on improvements, but don't copy text directly from ChatGPT, your resume should be genuinely personalized.
You'll need to be able to pass the AI keyword check and then be able to pass the soft skills/vibe check from recruiter before you ever talk to a real person about the job.

This is likely a huge factor in why I got past the recruiter screen with my new company. I didn't do it purposely with this company because my experience was really line for line with the job description. I am sure a few things on my resume we probably keywords for their AI filter.

Just need more tariffs
One very real impact I’m seeing from tariffs is that cost of inventory (for tariff impacted raws) is hurting companies. No matter where you stand on the issue, it’s an unplanned financial impact of 20%+.

No there isn't. I've known several people who have applied to hundreds of jobs and have gotten maybe an interview or two.
Job growth is a 5 year low right now.

Received an offer back in July with a start date in October. Got the confirmation of start date two weeks ago and put in my notice for resignation at my current company. My last day was Friday. Get an email this morning that the new company is contemplating a new hire freeze. I should still prepare on relocating and starting on my start date buuutt….wtf
