I worked at a place that had separate vacation and sick days... People abused it and considered sick days as vacation... Some people would call in sick and show up the next day with a sun burn... So the company ended up combining sick days and vacation and we got less time out of the combination.

I stay diversified. In my portfolio and in my threads. It’s the only way to keep people always guessing

That's obvious from his OP. He expects the people he works with to donate their PTO. There is no long-term value in that.

I’m only a few years (5 or less) from retiring with a shite ton of money in the bank and I take every single PTO day I get yearly.

You use buzzwords to hide that you don't know what you're talking about. Makes sense that you didn't want your coworker to take PTO. He's obviously the one with the brains and you're scared everyone else is going to discover how incompetent you are.

So you're an accountant, but don't understand the concept maximizing return on effort expended?

Interesting.

Yeah, I’m sure taking the occasional day off using PTO earned under company policy is really holding them back. I’d be more concerned about an employee who is starting threads on a public message board about how others use their PTO than I would be about an employee who decided to use a day or two of his PTO.

If they’re using PTO to take days off then they’re still getting paid, dumbass.

I’ve always taken all my PTO and it’s not stopped me from advancement to corporate-level management.

Did Mingo use any of his PTO to start this thread or did he do so while on company time?

Is this what you do in your spare time?

I took a random PTO day on Wednesday because I have some days to burn and my gf had Wednesday off. We got up early, went out to the beach and fished all day, gulf side and bay side. Then we went on a little hike before the sun went down. It was a whole hell of a lot better than being at work.

I bet he took off to play COD MW4 all day while snorting Adderall and pounding beers with the boys.

We lose it if we don't use it so I absolutely burn days with zero plans. Sometimes those are the best days off.

I've got 6 random days scheduled in November and December with no idea what I'll be doing.
