re: Do you respect people who take PTO “because they have it”

If you’re trying to make a play to run the company, I’d try to be as present as possible. If not, use your PTO.

My company used to buy back unused vacation days so i would rarely take them and just consider it a nice bonus at the end of the year. As soon as they ended that policy and started letting the days rollover, i started taking them more frequently.

Retire? haha, only Betas retire. Real movers and shakers in this world that make a difference keep going.

This is what little Mingo has failed to grasp. If he died today, they’d be throwing dirt on his coffin by Monday or Tuesday. And his job would be posted by Friday.

It's probably coming up on two decades since I worked a job that accrued PTO (damn "unlimited" vacation days policies). Last job I worked where I accrued PTO, it got to the point where I had to use my days as we could only roll over 5 days to the next year. Between PTO and holidays, I had every Friday off for the last 3 months of the year.

This is a bad troll attempt, even from Mingo.

OP sorry you have nothing better going on in your life than work. That's ok: nobody requires you to have a meaningful or impactful life. You can live and die for work and if that is enough for you then so be it. Nobody will remember you or your name, but you won't be the first or last in that boat.

Who gives a frick? You sound like you need to mind your business. The bitching you're doing is what women do.

Guy at my office took today off because his PTO balance is about to reach the cap. My PTO balance stays at the cap because I show up to work.

I reserve my respect for those who dv you without reading your posts.

For most of my life I felt the same as OP, but for past decade I see value in utilizing PTO because:
1. Mental health day to refocus and perspective on job
2. Family is important
3. A day for yourself is a priority
And maybe most importantly
4. Companies no longer care about employees..they do not value your loyalty or commitment. Regardless Of what HR tells you..you are simply a means to an end

Who are you to tell somebody what to do on their time off?

You process repair part invoices for a local branch
You aren’t even middle management

Again wrong. One person here on the OT, LSU Neal, knows me IRL and can vouch for what I’ve said.
I’m sorry that bothers you.

Another guy who thinks having Netflix at $8.99 a month is why young people can’t buy a house. Let me tell you, I really value his opinion

I posted in the other thread about company man about this person, but they also refuse to use pto. If you dont use pto, youre an idiot.
Imagine how sad your life is to forego time off from a company.

If only you could gift or sell your PTO to someone that has an actual life and people who enjoy spending time with them.

LSU Neal is more of a man than you ever have a prayer of becoming.
