I always have put regular household AA and AAA batteries in the garbage, but one of my friends is giving me hell and telling me you’re not supposed to do that.

Yeah but I know I'm not supposed to. I'm also supposed to recycle other stuff too but I don't really do that either other than Amazon boxes.

I'll also put trash in the recycle and compost bins since the geniuses at the City of Austin charge you $10 per bag of trash that doesn't fit in your trash can

All of our "recycling" gets dumped into the landfill with regular trash. It's a big scam.

The only thing I can think of that I don’t throw in the garbage is fluorescent tubes because of mercury.

Yes.

When I lived in Denham Springs, Waste Management had the nerve to call to tell me how great it was that I could purchase a container to throw my batteries away in. So the same company which did not offer recycling services or come more than once a week wanted me to pay extra for disposing of yet another thing. I told her no thanks I throw it in my existing garbage can. Silence....

Nah I prefer to fill my kitchen drawers with dead batteries.

I had two old batteries from my boat that my neighbor was nice enough to take to the hazardous dump area (he was getting ready to move and was taking a bunch of stuff) but aside from giant batteries and paint I can't think of anything else that I wouldn't just throw in the trash

I usually toss them in my used oil container and dump it all in the ditch when it's full

Ah, I knew they did that in Shreveport for a while because it got too expensive to truck the recycling to the plant.

Where I live now, does not offer recycling unless you pay for it, so yes.

Alkaline batteries go in the trash now.

It ain’t some RCRA violation for a residence to do that, that is until they find out Trump tossed some AAA in the garbage cans

I put them in a box and when they pile up, I take them to Battery World on Perkins Rd.
