Exactly what my father told me when he gave me my first knife- a Barlow. Today I carry a Kershaw Ken Onion.

I do, but don't carry keys. I just leave them in the car/truck. That is what I have insurance for.

So what you're saying is that box cutters or utility knives are perfectly fine but pocket knives aren't?

Technically, all these things are against the rules in our shops, but no one enforces it. So technically, I can see someone not carrying on so that they don't get in trouble. I carried a box cutter, but left it in my desk after work since I never need that suit randomly. If I need it around the house, I've got a garage full of tools

I don't get the "you're not a man of you don't carry a knife" thing. I used to have a pocket knife that always went in my pocket with my keys. Lost it years ago in college and never got another one when I realized I did not use it nearly enough to justify having it on me all the time. This is just another look at me, I'm a man, I drive a truck and carry a knife thing. I fish, hunt, and do all the "manly" things as well. I just don't need a pocket knife when going out to eat with the family or going to the mall (recently stopped at the mall near us with my wife and there was a group of 15 younger boys all with knives on their belt, shirt hooked over the knife so you could see it. All part of that redneck look at me I'm a man thing)

I'm now prepared for the down votes.

it's just a fricking knife dude. We get it that you don't carry one but I don't feel like I'm more of "man" for having one on me all the time. I use it daily

I won't down vote but you sound like a butt hurt dude who doesn't agree with concealed carry with pistols

Would feel naked without my grandfathers buck knife in my pocket, use it for minor stuff. The knife I keep in my boot on the other hand will slice a neck off a body if I needed it to - I don't walk outside in the mornings without it. I also have my conceal carry on me in the early mornings when I go to work or gym at 2am.

Look at the numerous "I'm a man, of course I carry a knife" comments in this thread. It's a thing. I'm not against carrying a knife. But too many carry it because they feel they have to to be a man. Trust me, those kids I saw this weekend were country as shite and had their fancy knife's on display. Wasn't on accident.

I carry one because every time I don't. I need it. One of those things.

FWIW I clip it on the inside of my pocket
