I was a high school teacher/coach for 20 years at a private school. Loved the coaching but not the teaching part. Didn’t make much money and finally just had enough and started a second career with a lawn and landscape business. After getting over the anxiety of being solely responsible for the success or failure of the business, I will hopefully never have to work for someone else again. I am poor by OT standards, but happier than I’ve ever been. I just hope my body can hold up long enough until I’m able to retire on the investments my wife and I have been making.

911 dispatcher, I help people so it's rewarding, but it's also thankless and very negative

The pay is better than the average 911 dispatcher, but not really worth the work, the benefits are outstanding.

Me too! I am starting grad school soon to work toward a career in mental health. I will not make it in my current job until retirement.

I’m a teacher. Job is okay. Tenure and benefits are great. Summers off, holidays throughout the school year, and getting home before 4pm every day is great.

Pay is good for what I do (~$62k).

But I use about 20% of my brain per day. That’s the part I hate the most. I’m unchallenged and bored most of the time. I like my students, but I don’t really get a lot of fulfillment interacting with them.

My accountant hands me the numbers, I smile and write the check.

I know people that didn’t and tried to beat the system. The system always wins

Artist. Sculptor & Graphic Design and professor with an MFA.
Do what I want when I want and I make a very, very comfortable living.
I love when people on the rant, say “artists can’t make a living”… that just means they don’t know any very good artists.

I just quite my job that I built 10 years ago and am not deep sea fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. Leaving that company was the best decision I have ever made

lol no not so much assisted suicide, more bucket list activities. One corp provides a living facility for terminal or elderly with loss of ADLs. Another provides sitters/assistants, typically 2nd tier escort level. Another provides experiences/excursion. Popular ones include Sayonara Sunday parties, tandem sky-diving, car racing, pharmaceutical "Trips", game hunting. Most things these guys used to do, some for first time.

I'm a Physician Assistant at a dermatology telemedicine company, fully remote. $125k base + bonus.

I don't think there's a job that I could possibly "love" but I very much like it and feel grateful to be working here. Was able to pay off student loans and buy my first home because of this job. Don't think I'll ever go back to seeing patients in person.

Find something you're good at, not just something that's easy to do an adequate job. Also find a job that rewards you for productivity.

Love my job working for myself. I home office which is nice but also has its issues. Wife loves to come in to interrupt.

I buy, sell, broker, manufacturing process equipment mostly chemical/refining including entire process units. I travel when need arises. Often disappointed after putting in many hours researching and putting together a proposal. Sometimes dealing with investment bankers when I have seen opportunity to build a facility with excellent ROI. Investment bankers seems to be more about "What's trending" which I understand. This has given me insight into how absolutely stupid most politicians are about business which could be in their own backyard and a feather in their hat.

I have also learned that Mississippi is the most business friendly state around, far better than Texas or Florida. It has to be due lack of critical resources.

The part I like is seeing new processes and learning a little about the process and how it works, where used in the world. So geopolitics is involved, at least understanding what is going on, trying to, but the sands shift constantly.

I like my job, don’t love it. I work in corporate finance. I barely make over 100k but I’m 34 and I’m happy with that.
