Haha this is so true. Schools teach nothing about money to kids. It’s something parents have to do and really give them tough love on it.

Set some rules about what they have to pay for themselves. Then give them their spending money at the beginning of the month. When they screw it up and over spend don’t give them extra. They have to feel the pain of missing the night out or groveling for a ride bc no gas money.

I really think this is why so many women are bad at money. Mom and dad always give in to their sweet daughters.

Don't know him personally, but Gavin Newsome is running a $73B deficit with a Democrat supermajority in the legislature. In most places that would get a person fired from their job. In the Democrat Party it'll probably make him the Presidential nominee.

Don’t look up Reagan, Both Bush’s and Trump’s presidency. Democrats and Repubs are all to blame for our debt.

Yup! I just left a medical clinic where the owner used the accounts like an open checkbook. He spent less time working and started flying all over the world. Kids to Disney every other month. The clinic went down in flames.
Forced my hand to actually start my own clinic and I'm now the owner of a humble and lucrative practice.

My wife and I used to argue about money. I finally opened up an account for her and have a portion of my check auto deposited into her account. It's not an insignificant amount.

Her only responsibility is groceries. I pay for everything else. I can't see her account at all. No one else has access to it. When the money is gone, it's gone until she gets "paid" again. The arguments have completely dried up.

She is a SAHM that earns a salary and has to stay within her budget. Sometimes I look on my account and see "Walmart" where she purchased groceries and "accidentally used the wrong card". She pays it back to our main checking account.

During Covid after a few months of only buying groceries, she was shocked at the balance in her account but didn't put together that she was blowing the remainder every month.

Sounds like one of my physician clients. Had a thriving neuro office, robust contracts with NASA, a few other ancillary services, and she was the primary private physician for several pro athletes but treated her business checking account like her personal piggy bank. Filed bankruptcy and is now living off some long time ago protected assets. Sad reality, she was a great doctor and thankfully we protected as many assets as we could a decade+ ago but she lost control around 2019. She was earning over $1m/year...she was the best and worst client.

Was speaking with a co-worker last week about retirement. He refuses to use our company sponsored Fidelity 401K, stating he doesn't want someone else controlling his money. Company matches 6% up to 7500. Tried to explain this but no go. He's a Democrat BTW so...

My mom has always liked to live like she has more money than she does. She's living on a pension now so I guess she's had to tone it down some. Her mom was like that too.

My dad is the complete opposite. It's probably at least one reason why they are divorced. He has plenty of money but hates to spend it other than eating out every meal.

Did same, but she just used it on Jody. I think wasting my money pissed me off more than her taking side dick

This would suggest that she's saving money in some way. Maybe she's still spending it all, but she aint paying a car note.

She is likely spending it on maintaining that old truck.

I spent 150k to start a pressure washing business. I only make 200-500 a week and can no longer get any business loans.

My issue is no one is willing to work. 10 dollars an hour I should have high school and college kids beating down my door for a job.

I tried to get a loan for 3,500 to get my truck wrapped again with better graphics. (crazy price for a 2020 RAM 3550 tradesman imo).

My nephew worked for me one summer and was great worker. Then he used all he saved up to buy a damn E-car and then did not want to work during the semester. How can owner operator who gets used to a 40-50 hour week worker keep up when the worker just leaves.

My sister and her husband have an agreement. He can manage short term money but she covers long term financing. She makes like 3 times as much as he does and pretty much said “I’m very strict on long term saving so I want you to be making sure you can manage short term to continue to do stuff you want as long as I can do my long term financial planning”

I have a friend who owns a Lawn Service business. He lives from frost to spring on a credit card. I tried to talk to him about budgeting. He called me "Stingy". I said, no, I'm thrifty.
I had to loan him the money to pay for his dogs vet Bill, until Spring.
