As a city, Lafayette is perfectly fine.

I think people love to give Lafayette folks crap because people from there have extreme egos about their town for some unknown reason.

Very little crime, good private schools, functional public schools, pro-business government, good food, festivals, etc.

Lafayette is a nice smaller city, it isn't paradise.

It's the only Louisiana city above 100,000 that isn't drug down by race baiters and thieves which means there is some hope that it has a future

I thought Baton Rouge was doing well under Holden....then the media frenzy and the need for a pre-election wedge issue drove the use of Baton Rouge as a focal point and nuked race relations in that town.

Then Mitch decided to distract from his incompetence by pulling out monuments.

Now race relations in south Louisiana are just as fricked as they are in most of the mid west.

I lived in Laffy years ago...had a lot of fun there when I was younger

And lets not forget about CREATE

CREATE is an opportunity to brand Lafayette Parish as a cultural, recreational, and entertainment hub. “As we seek to strengthen and diversify our economy through the CREATE initiative, we need to hear from as many voices as possible to best utilize our creative and recreational assets,” states Robideaux.

Watch out Baton Rouge...Laffy is going to pass you up on the cultural stage

Maybe BR can get its shite together if Kip or someone similar beats SWB in 2020. If not, it'll face a Jackson esque future. SWB is already shitting on everything that doesn't have some gravy leftover to throw to NBR.

this thread has been derailed into a "Nola v. Nola suburbs" thread

the discussion is "Nola v. other legit city"

It's hard to debate Nola vs other legit cities due to how terrible it is

Lafayette's problem isn't the politics. It's just boring. I have zero desire to go there, much less live there. It's a speed bump on the way to Texas.

It will take a decade to restore race relations in these "host cities" for the latest Democratic party wedge issue (like St. Louis or Baton Rouge) to where they were.

You never know. Your home town could be next.
