a city which revolves around partying, festivals, & tourism is better
I lived here for 5 years before I had kids, yeah it was fun, but then I had kids and grew up...
I take my kids to Parades, festivals, sporting events, parks, etc... we see all the attractions that other people come to see. WE eat out once or twice a week.
I mean we dont take them to Bourbon Street or un kid friendly atmospheres. There is adult time for that....
We hang out with our friends who also have kids, our kids play sports and are involved in kid things........
Yes, believe it or not, but enjoying life with kids is much more fun than living life without them...I know it's crazy

I spent my high school years on the Northshore. Mandeville annoys the shite out of me now, and the drive across the bridge fricking blows
I wouldn't mind moving to Madisonville or Covington though

This city is worse with them
My kids love the city....they would be bored out of their minds if they lived on the Northshore

i can def understand that
but for the few perks nola provides for kids, id think the negatives outweigh those positives.

Parades
Parks
Movies
shops
My childhood was riding bikes around the neighborhood and playing street hockey
You cant do that in actual new orleans with the way the city zoning and streets are

If you're complaining about overpriced homes, the northshore doesn't sound like a solution unless you're going up to Franklin or Bush.
Madisonville home priced at $379,900 at $157 a sq foot on a 70x122 lot
$379,000 house in Metarie at $153 a sq foot on a 75x110 lot

That north shore house you listed is on an actual highway
I looked at that listing a while back. It's been up for a while
ETA: It is a nice house though.

I'm leaving in a year, going to Portland. Got a job growing bud waiting on me.
I'd go now but I started a job with an upstart company and don't want to leave people hanging.

My oldest and his friends walk and ride their bikes all over uptown, they go eat on Tulane's campus, or catch a baseball game at Tulane, go to Ferret and grab a bite to eat at Blaze or Dat Dog after school....go ride bikes in Audubon Park, run around the golf course stealing golf balls....
