Don't they force you old farts out relatively young?

I think stress/hate comes from not having a good group of people you work with. I'm in I.T. and have had many jobs that i hated due to the Directors and Managers that made it almost unbearable at times. Add in bad team members then you have a recipe for hating your Job. Current job been at near 10 years has some great Co-workers and upper management. Hoping to retire with this group. Stress can be not so bad when team members and upper management are on the same page and the pay is very nice as well

I absolutely hated my life when I was doing corporate finance full time, but it paid well. I’m much happier being in management now and doing the finance work on the side in my free time.

I love my job and what I do. Pays decent. I just dislike the company I work for. The sad part is, there is no similar jobs in this area to compete with them and so, I stay.

If he hated it so much, why didn't he seek another profession during the times he took off?

I make a lot of money in a short amount of time and have most of the year off, but the work schedule is grueling. 14-21 days straight,12-16 hours a day and switching between day and night schedule..3 days, 4 nights, 3 days, 4 nights, 3 days etc and sleeping in hotels. The worst part is every job is about the same and lasts a week so it's super repetitive. My best year was almost $400k in 16 weeks. I know most people would kill for that deal, but a few years in, I hate it. I start back late March after a 6 month break and I'm dreading it.

Plant baw here. 22 years in O & G. We have a saying that once you get hired you're putting on the golden handcuffs! A co-worker of mine calls it a reverse mugging where they beat you up while stuffing your pockets with money !

There honestly is zero reason to hate my job. People would kill to work where I do.
That being said, when I sit in meetings with customers about diversity and inclusion, which makes zero fricking sense for my company’s products… I just want to say frick it.
I proposed instead of trying to develop something to pander to these idiots that we just donate to a cause, etc. I was basically told to sit down and shut up and let’s devise a way to make something to satisfy everyone. Ok. Which race? Which gender? Which sexuality? Which disability? No matter what we do, someone will say why not MY fetish?

I know many retail pharmacists and every one I can think of right now absolutely hate their job. Especially the ones that own independent pharmacies. My wife is a clinical pharmacist at a hospital and absolutely loves her job.

I had two jobs over the course of a long career where I absolutely loved the job and the people around me, but had a petty, unqualified idiot for a boss. Once in consulting, and once working in corporate America. In both cases, I didn’t even realize how much I hated it until I left it.
Both times, they were highly stressful positions, but I felt none of that stress, it was entirely being micromanaged to the point of misery that did me in.

Very few people actually enjoy their work. Notice I didn’t say job. Work is work and it’s going to be extremely difficult to find something you do every day that you genuinely enjoy.
Now a job that has a good work life balance can be something you “enjoy” because you spend less time doing the shite you don’t want to do.
I don’t know anyone personally that actually enjoys their work.

I'm an oral surgeon. I love the actual work and doing procedures, but I hate patients more than anything on Earth. People are literally the worst.
