Government contractors are all highly successful

Ronald Reagan and Arnold come to mind

Steve Mnuchin is another one

I’ve worked in both private sector and government and I’ve learned that most people everywhere you go are morons. No real difference TBH.

Bill Cassidy was a successful physician who got a cushy appointed medical gig before parleying that into a seat in the state legislature, then U.S. Congress, and is now a Senator.
Ralph Abraham was also a doctor, farmer, and later a Congressman before failing to run for governor.
Judges tend to be successful lawyers before climbing to the bench.
Meanwhile, rank and file bureaucrats or laborers working for cities and state agencies tend to be either springboards for people fresh out of school, cushy gigs for folks profiting from nepotism, or essentially dead-end jobs for people who can’t do much else.

Add in complainer and liar and it looks like you should seek a job in government

Is that not successful enough?

A veterinarian and veteran as well
We could have had him as governor during all this Covid stuff and we put up Rispone instead. Let that sink in

I was hoping The question to be the inverse. People who have left government to be successful, because that’s where I am. I hate my government job.

Govt jobs pay as much or more as private sector anymore, have little to no responsibility or accountability and a pension. They are winning, the taxpayer is losing.

Reagan was not wealthy, and his acting career was all but petered out, when a bunch of millionaires decided to back him for governor of California. Nancy called one and literally cried that they could not afford it, and they assured her there was "private money" to keep them afloat. And there was.
Per Showtime doc series, The Reagans, and comments of their son.
Not one Trump fan is going to nominate him as someone "successful that left their job to go into government"?
In Louisiana where the economy is crap, many federal jobs pay as well or better than the private sector equivalent (especially when benefits are considered), and they are more stable, so they draw top talent. That may not be true in NYC or San Diego, but it is around here.

... Wasn't half of Trump's cabinet poached from the private sector?
Mnuchin, Cohn, and Donovan all came from Goldman Sachs.
I'm not agreeing with you in the slightest because you don't agree with yourself. If the candidate you don't like does the same you'll complain they're too cozy with wall street.
I'm just saying, very "successful" people join the government all the time.

There’s a reason why they’re known as Government Sachs
And it looks like Biden is taking a bunch from Blackrock

No, and therein lies the problem.

Irrespective of the administration or party, there is a revolving door between major Wall Street investment banks and economic advisory staffs. I’m betting most of them do quite well with that arrangement.
