I started taking a magnesium supplement at bedtime to help with migraines and found that it helped me get to sleep and stay asleep.

Yes. When I was younger, I could never seem to get to sleep. Now, I have no trouble falling asleep. I just cannot stay asleep. I wake up at least 3 times every night. Sometimes it's for a couple minutes and I'm right back to sleep. Sometimes, it's 20 minutes and I'll just turn the TV on for some background noise because my mind is racing. That usually helps, but disturbs my wife, so I try not to. When it's bad, sometimes I'll just get up and go sleep in my recliner or on the couch so I can turn the TV on without waking her up. And if it's like 4 am, I'll just go on and get up to get the day started.

It sucks, but I've just learned to live with it. I'm never really struggling to get through my days so my doctor told me I'm getting enough sleep for my brain and body if that isn't happening. Some people just don't require as much sleep as others. My wife can hardly function unless she gets a good 7 hours in. I'm good to go on as little as 4 or 5.

Don’t drink alcohol.

Do you exercise daily and eat a decent diet?

I find Melatonin puts me to sleep quick, but I do just like you said. I wake up around 2 or 3 and can't fall back asleep.

I drink alcohol maybe 1-2 times a month and sometimes none at all, Exercise daily, eat healthy, not fat, don’t have apnea, don’t wake up at night, and I still feel like I don’t get good sleep. I’ll get 7-8 hrs and feel like shite in the morning.

I read something that if you hit snooze and sleep a little more you might get sleep inertia or whatever

My understanding which could be wrong is that the D8 or Indica is better for sleep and D9/Sativa is more for being up and doing things.

Personally (and we're all different) I presently have cut back on frequent/daily usage of the otc THC stuff because I suspect that it was causing some weird issues during the day (when not on it) that I would describe as anxiety, that I’ve never really had before. Still working through that though (seeing if other things could be causing that) because otherwise I really like it. Still will take it on the weekends and a random weeknight, just avoiding too frequently.

I can go to sleep reading TD posts. Staying asleep throughout the night is the issue.

Generally true.

Sativa for focus, creativity etc.

Indica for sleep. I dont like how Indica makes me feel most of the time. Its nighttime only.

Yes. Due to anxiety and stress. I wake up virtually every night smothered in dread and worry about work, children, finances, providing for the people I love, time, mortality, the potential loss of my dreams, the demise of untroubled youthful enjoyment, the brevity of life. I toss and turn ruminating about these things for hours. It's a painful season of adulthood. I'd like to think it will pass, but it seems to be an inevitable byproduct of aging and responsibility for others.

Thc gummies for night. Wife uses them and has had great results. We get them from cypress hemp. They have night time ones.

I used to have insomnia. I beat that by meditation. It’s not a quick fix (give it a few months), but it will help calm the fluctuations of the mind. At least 10 minutes practice each morning and over time worked wonders.

Wait until you're in your 40s and you wake up multiple times to piss. It's one of the great joys of life.

I'm a week away from 72 and I'm at least 3 times a night up and pissing-----and I don't usually go to sleep until close to midnight, so I get very little sleep for hours at a time.

But at least I'm retired and can catnap during the day if I feel like it, so there's that.

I had this issue for a while too in my 30s. Mostly it was from drinking during the week. I've since hung up drinking completely for many reasons, but I noticed my sleep got better almost immediately. And I do get up before 5 and exercise most mornings too, so that helps.

you drink a lot? What's your weight at?

for 10 months I quit drinking, lost 30 pounds and stopped having acid reflux that would wake me up.

Same. I sleep like a baby most nights. Every once in a while I'll get up to pee and can't get back to sleep well.

I’ve always struggled to sleep. It’s like I sleep with one eye open because I’m paranoid of being attacked or something. In college, I had legit insomnia. Cutting out caffeine after lunch helped, but I still sleep very unsoundly, wake up constantly, toss & turn, have trouble falling asleep (impossible on busses and planes, even a struggle in hotels), and have frequent racing dreams and nightmares. I don’t remember ever waking up feeling less tired than I was before bed. Even if I’m in bed for 10 hours, I’d reckon I’m lucky to actually be sound asleep for 5 of them. Been this way my entire life.

Nope. I have always slept well. For a while after getting older I would wake occasionally during the night. Diagnosed with apnea, got a CPAP, now I am asleep within minutes and dont wake until the sun comes up.

I have found that drinking will cause me to randomly wake up during the night. D8 gummies will make me drop off to sleep at any given moment. D9s make me mean as a snake.
