It stablizies though and you'll end up making about what you are worth. Luckily that was for me 1-2 years out of college. Then you have to consider whether making 5-10% more money is worth walking into an unknown situation. If it's 40%, sure, go for it, but that becomes less likely as you progress in your career.

I wish I had just a couple jobs, but my career has been pretty average in job count by modern standards.
-Layoffs (2 years)
-Merger/layoffs (5 years)
-Quit because employer was corrupt frick, and they paid me to keep quiet (1 year)
-layoffs (10 years)
-offered better opportunity with folks from previous job (3 years)
- current (2 years)

More common in Sales jobs, IMO
Loyalty goes both ways too because I was 8 years into a position that I'd grown 700% over a 7 year span & "let go" with no valid reason.
Company ended up laying off entire OSR Group in 3 month span and seems to be aligning for a sell by owner.

These 2 things do not match. Is she a professional grocery picker??

The job hopping isn't bad. It's the trait of never being satisfied in the sense of something is always "wrong" with the place. That's the red flag.

Line of work? I don’t begrudge people chasing opportunity, I’m amazed that some people can get hired for new opportunity sometimes.

I've had 2 jobs in the past 20 years. I guess you can constantly chase a slightly higher salary but that's never been worth the stability to me.
3% annual vs 100% in 5 years with 3 moves (ie move for raise, stay two years, move for raise, stay two years, just moved)

Yep, Taylor Swift syndrome. Job hopping for more money is one thing. Going on Food stamps and working at Walmart is another.

I pretty much have final say on who gets hired on my team. These aren't really entry level jobs. If you have 15 years of experience and 4-5 different positions that's no big deal. Or if you did contract work and had 15 that's fine too. But if you never held a job for longer than 2 years I'll most likely never even consider you.

That’s not unreasonable. I think the OP is referring to people who literally change jobs every six months.
My company division goes through sales people like a fast food place goes through employees, so sometimes the employer is the problem.

Good luck to you with that. I'd throw your resume in the trash if you had 15 yrs of experience and 8 different jobs

Yep. Layoffs open your eyes. The last one was 100% expected because they had been wiping the slate, including founding employees and family of ceo. Decades of service, escorted to elevator like a common plebe.

No, she’s all over the fricking map.

I've had two jobs in 10 years. And the reason I left my previous employer(8.5 years) wa b/c they moved and it woulda been a 51 mile one-way trip, and also upper management had changed and it wasn't the same, but how some people can just job hop like that is crazy. No consistency.

Layoffs etc are fine. And in some fields like construction they are expected.

And you'll end up having a hard time finding talent with how things are headed.

It is all in finance and he has worked for some fortune 500 companies and some mom and pop type places. Seems to be working out as he has manged on average 10-15k raise plus bonuses each time he jumps
Guess I should say it is not in sales, he has doubled his salary since he started switching jobs and his vacation time went from two weeks earned a year to four.

It takes most employees a year to really be an important contributor on my team. If you are a 2 years and bounce type it's not worth my time

So I've held 6 jobs in 13 years. My dad considered me a job hopper.
Changing jobs has helped me increase my salary 3.7X based on my starting salary out of college.
There is no way I'd be where I am now if not for moving around. I don't judge my generation for moving every 2-3 years.
