I know it sounds weird, but I tell guys now I am unable to have good friends. We stand around and drink a beer, but why do I want to lose another three or four good friends before I die?
BTW you are a favorite poster of mine. I really enjoy your nostalgia posts about Jxn MS in the 50s & 60s

Yes.
Married her.
And many years later, we are still happy about it.

My mom used to say if you have one true friend you are blessed.
Mine died in Vietnam.

People tend to have different levels of happiness when I see them. My dog is always happy.

No, but one of my bosses is a good friend

My wife, outside of her it would be her Uncle that I’ve known my whole life. I had a couple best friends growing up that at the time I thought would be for life, but that’s not the way life works.

I would think most people have at least one friend that will help them out in a time of need and vice versa

Did. Lost my Dad last year.

I have all my best friends from different stages in my life, and I’m still great friends with all of them.
I don’t consider any specific one to be THE best friend, though.

Yes. Been married to her for going on 28 years.

One of my best friends passed away last month, I’ve been fortunate to have friends I made over 50 years ago who, even if we haven’t seen one another in years, can just pick right up like we’ve never been apart.
They are like family rather than friends to me and I’ll never take them for granted. I’m very lucky.

Only have 2 real friends, so they are co-best friends. Known them both for nearly 50 years. Though I should say “had” because I ran one off back in July. We were on a snake-catching trip in West Texas and I told him to stop being a pussy. He never got over it and we haven’t talked since then.

Yes. 3 My Dad, my wife (no pix) and a fella I met 70+ years ago.
My Dad became a best friend after I had enough sense to realize his actions, whippings/punishments, while growing up were to make me a responsible/better person.
My wife could not be more supportive and we almost never fight. Even with the added age and poor health, I still look at her and see the smoking hot 23 yr old flat bellied race horse that first caught my eye. Still in love as she is my everything.
Met my bud at kindergarden in 1953 and were inseparable. Were together when each shot first dove, squirrel, deer. Together when smoked first cigarette, drank first beer. Double dated on our first dates.
Probably never went longer than a couple of weeks without talking to each other since college even though he moved a good ways off. His work took him all over the world, but we stayed in regular contact.
He died last December and after 70+years and left a large void in my life. Still think about him almost daily.
Reflecting on all, I have been a extremely fortunate person.
