People go to hell for following a "religion".
Tell em that...defcon 1.
Being spiritual is between You and God, not a religion.

i love how you changed it from 5.5 billion to 3.5 billion and then got a chuckle out of a million. You sure it isnt 3.6 billion? or 3.54 billion?

earth itself was here considerably longer to account of the dinosaur age, decomposition of matter into oil, etc.
This could also be accounted for by the flood. Im of the belief that the Earth was VERY different before the flood and civilization possibly just as advanced or even more so along with very different animals and natural landscapes and climate. A worldwide flood, especially if you consider the canopy theory, would change the Earth drastically and quickly. Then thousands of years later we look at the stark differences and think it had to have happened over millions of years.

I'm atheist so I get a lot of shite for that. I'm also a former Democrat voter, so with that....
Seeing ignorant comments like "Christians are Nazis" is one that really pisses me off. I had family members that took out the actual Nazis in WW2. Some of our finest family possessions are photos of them in Europe tearing down these flags. Yet today, there are millions of Americans that would call these great men Nazis because they were Christian.
I find it much harder to reason with people I was once friends with. The ones that now believe a man can give birth, or even worse, they dance around like they won something when one of their political adversaries is shot or killed.
At the end of the day, I know who I am going to side with when it come down to it, and it won't be the radical left or their favorite "religion", radical islam.
I've yet to see anyone in this thread attack that one, and there's a reason for it

I’ve had really great discussions with devoutly religious people.

The people I avoid are those who know very little about their religion beyond that it’s correct and that anyone who disagrees is stupid/lying/evil.
Thats because these people are narrow and small minded people just in a "religious" way... nobody of this type (Narrow and small minded) is worth effort and trouble to engage....

Also, there are marine fossils in the tallest of mountains. Just saying.
Science needs an incredible miracle for the origin of life without a God. Almost like a sort of resurrection.
Yes. If the earth was surrounded by an extensive water canopy capable of releasing rain for 40 days, it's piercing would account for quick frozen mammoths in the Arctic while the massive pressure of the released water would push ocean floors lower and mountains higher placing marine fossils there.
I also think the Big Bang Theory harmonizes with the creation account if you believe God is at the center of what is theorized as the explosion, but in actuality is the Creator spinning out galaxies from a central hub.

Sure. Also a wild guess

Many other civilizations (not religions) mention a flood of some sort. Across the earth.
So?

I don't waste my time talking to hard core religious people any more than I do talking to people who seem to steer conversations to politics.
I've got enough aggravation in my life and refuse to be arguing with inflexible people.
The only way to reason with people like that is to be exactly like them, and that's not me.

What’s funny? You disagree that there’s more evidence of a flood than there is life evolving on its own from nothing? I say you are the one being ridiculous.
Or you think civilization developed over the last 2000 years faster than it could have 2000 years before the flood with people living much longer?

I’m a gnostic so I laugh when someone thinks the current day bible is anything more than an incomplete work that has been gutted to protect the institution that is religion.

Cool. I say that you’re wrong on both accounts.

I honestly don't know any deeply religious people that "argue" with non-believers.
My very best friend for over 40 years has fundamental religious differences with me, but we love each other like brothers, and would and have done anything for one another. I pray for him and my life would be much less rich without him in it, and he would say the same.
The only time I talk extensively about my faith is here really, and the likelihood of changing anyone's mind here is pretty much nil.
Still, you want people to have what you have and find the peace that only God can provide in this fallen world. I do believe that faith without works is dead, while also understanding that our good works don't get us into Heaven.
You also have to know when to shake the dust from your sandals and move on.

Yea, but you're the dumbest mother fricker on this entire website. You're also a sad, pathetic and weak human. So obviously your opinion on anything is void.

It's not so much a debate about religion, it's just their worldview. There is no gray area with them.
Without specificity your entire complaint is way too ambiguous.
Do you confuse "gray area" with compromise of God's Word?
