With brothers and sister, we all just buy for the godchildren. For us, that's all of the kids so all of them usually get something. So that means we end up buying for at least 1 sibling as they're the god parents.

I have adult children and 1 adult grandchild. They all like money

My wife always gets things like popcorn or candy for everyone and small goody bags for kids in the family.

I tried to propose to my Mom’s side of the family that the adults draw names and we just buy for the little kids.

My Aunt, who is literally maxing out a brand new credit card to afford Christmas, was appalled and set a $100 “limit” for each adult to spend on each other.

They’re all getting $25 gift cards. No way in hell I’m spending $2,000 on extended family.

I wish we'd stop. We draw names and provide a wish list of things $50 or less.

I'll put something practical like a tire inflator (actual request from last year) thinking I'll get an actual name brand like Husky that costs like $25. Instead I end up with Qshuomging brand off of Amazon that probably cost the giver $10 and is a piece of junk.

Not really. I sometimes give a small token to my two siblings—a bottle of wine or something small. My rule is that is has to be relatively inexpensive, thoughtful, and consumable. The idea is that I am thinking of them. Sometimes I also receive a small gift from them, but no one is “keeping a score.” I am quite generous with the children.

I started buying my brother a gift when I started making real money. Usually around $30-$35. Typically it's something useful that he wouldn't buy for himself. He never buys me anything. He poor.
