I did at one point in my life for a very long time until she walked out of our marriage.

I am cordial to her, and will always respect her as the mother of our children, but today she is no longer my friend. And I am okay with that.

Because it's not true

Those aren't actual reasons, just your opinion.

You asked why I said what I said. Those are the EXACT reasons I said it.

So your proof that everyone is lying is "reasons", ok.

Do you consider your wife/girlfriend or husband/boyfriend your best friend?
I love my wife and may have used the phrase “I married my best friend” before, because we get along and rarely fight. Been together 15 years.
But most men are not psychologically wired to be a woman’s best friend. We have different hormones and our innate biology is to be attracted to a woman for procreation, alone.

I would say if your wife is truly your best friend, you may need to rethink your ability to cultivate other healthy male friendships.
I have my friends and my hobbies, and my wife has hers. When we are together she enhances and compliments my life, and supports my goals, and I do the same for her.
But the idea of “we’re a power couple, we’re gonna do everything together, and be besties and take on the world” is honestly some bs that is messing men up.

My wife likely doesn’t even want me to be her best friend. She wants me to be her protector, provider, dad to her kids, etc. A man that cares for her and supports her goals and dreams. It’s okay that we don’t have a lot of the same interests & hobbies. We’re not supposed to like the same everything. And want to talk about the same everything. You also don’t need to be weak and vulnerable 24/7 to someone who once saw you as mysterious and attractive.

There’s a world where you can be very attracted to, and in love with your wife, and support all her endeavors without being her “best friend”.

Yes. And if your wife is not your best friend, you married the wrong one. To be with someone most of your life you have to be or you'll be miserable.
