Do you consider Edward Snowden a traitor? Patriot?

Just got done with the movie and have to say I haven't dug much into his dealings but I'm torn with this question.
Do you think he will be allowed back in the US without trial?

Not sure what Trump's stance on him is, but I'd imagine its more likely under him than Obama

He is a hero but heros don't always have happy endings.

Neither... I'm indifferent, although what was done was great for the American people that actually cherish freedom

Reading the book now. Hero. But he kept saying from the start that he knew the consequences and would face them - yet he seemed to try to avoid the comsequences from day one. Not that I blame him.

The country is evenly split on Edward.
Loved the movie. And his cameo at the end.

100% Hero, as is Assange. The man should have statues made of him, not be Public Enemy #1.

Snowden gave up his life to release the information he had about our government. If I knew a way to directly help him I would do it
Posted on 12/5/16 at 12:21 am to blueboy
He revealed that the government is using our mobile phones and internet service providers to spy on us every time we use them. He revealed that we use our military drones in targeted assassinations, sometimes of American citizens. He revealed that our government is absolutely violating our rights every single day.

Patriot
ETA: In a world full of shitty people he's one of the few that I truly admire and as someone has already said, I wish I could help the man.

Both... More of a Patriot though. He should do some light federal time for breaking the law but otherwise should be celebrated for what he did.

I don't think enough Americans know exactly what Snowden shared
Posted on 12/5/16 at 12:39 am to Ed Osteen
We may not know everything, but what we know enough to consider him a hero, and enough that it should have been a rallying call to gather the torches and pitchforks, but there was a new episode of the Dancing With the Stars on that night and Kanye said something crazy on twitter, so we all just forgot about it and went on living our lives.

Watch the documentary Citizenfour. It's excellent. Will tell you everything you need to know directly from Snowden right at the time this was all coming out.

I consider him a patriot, but come on, who didn't already know you were being spied on through your shite?
