I hear it all the time

"I don't want my kids playing with guns"

I think one has nothing to do with the other.

i had toy guns when i was a kid. I didn't turn into a thug.

My sisters (no pics) had easy bake ovens. None of them turned into bakers.

No, I believe poverty and the lack of a two parent household contributes to children developing thuggish behavior.

Played with toy guns when I was a kid, shot my BB guns and pellet guns a lot since we always played in the woods, yet I never owned a real gun until I bought a couple .22 rifles in my late 40s, then bought a .38 revolver at age 50.

Not nearly as much as:

-The father dipping out cause the momma slept with no many dudes that they can't tell who the real father is.

-Or nearly as much as the violent, crack-addicted households that many grow up in.

-Or as much as the schools, societies, guilty whites that convince a criminal it's not their fault because society failed them in some way.

The gun isn't the one that has the bright idea of being a piece of shite and robbing/killing people.

Do you think the people that state this are worried about their kids becoming thugs?

or do you think it is more of a safety issue?

I'm in my 40's and when I was a kid we played cops and robbers. My father and grandfather played cowboys and indians. Kids nowadays play first person shooter games. Technology changes but people don't.

I played with toy guns all the time. I used to like those with the caps that went pop. Somehow I've managed to never shoot or even point a gun at another person my whole life.

Like the pitbulls from yesterday's thread, it is just a matter of time. You are gonna lose it...

My friends and I took our toy guns, spray painted the orange tips black, used fake suppressors with toilet paper rolls and electrical tape, had wars in the neighborhood, etc etc.

Never became a thug though. Weird.
