I believe toy guns turn children into "thugs" as much as I believe that guns kill people on their own.

Show of hands.

Who here has held a firearm and the though of killing a bunch of people soon came into their heads?

Wouldn’t kids playing with toy guns have led to kids becoming thugs back in the early to mid 20th century or prior? I played with toy guns as a kid, and I’m not a thug, nor ever have been.

You know, perhaps we just need to start being honest with ourselves and state the obvious, that the urban community has a history of violence and broken families, and we should probably expect nothing more than more violence unless and until they can fix the broken families and violence within their own community, because Lord knows that we can’t say anything or do anything about it.

I don't think playing with guns itself is a problem. It's the culture surrounding the guns that is the problem.

If the kid is playing cops and robbers. No big deal. If the kid is in an area where he's influenced by gangs and wants to emulate them and the way they use guns, then that's a problem.

bullshite. I had toy guns and I'm not a thug

Liberalism is what causes thugery. They know that they commit whatever atrocity they desire and they won't be held responsible.

Not in my case. I started carrying when I was 5 years old , a Daisy BB gun. Of course just for fun but I could go all over the neighborhood with the gun. Even to the store on my bike to buy BB’s. Next a Benjamin air rifle. Started with the .22 at ten years old. The strict rule with the .22 was only CB caps allowed. (Low velocity ). Got caught shooting Long Rifles. Dad was helping me clean some rabbits and squirrels I shot. He knew the damage was greater than what CB caps would do. It was a hard painful lesson. But I never turned into a thug.

Bad parents or absent parents influence kids to become thugs

Maybe you're right, proggy. Millions of kids have toy guns that whisper gangsta rap lyrics in their ear every night
