Spirituality is a construct made by humankind to remove the scary part of the nothing that happens when you die.

How is this an argument? Are you afraid to die? There are millions of people alive today that are not afraid of being “maggot food.” Do you think people 2,000 years ago were afraid of death or what lies ahead? Why would humankind “make up” spirituality to make people feel better about death?

Absolutely. They didn't want this to be the end.

Easier to accept death if it's not final.

But yet, if it’s a science book you’ll follow it, right?

Science isn't science unless proven. More than likely, by many scientists attempting to disprove.

I've worked with antebellum mansions for over 20 years. I've had 3 experiences myself. Ghosts are real and aware of our presence. Many people who work the plantation homes know it,
but rarely discuss it. No one believes unless they experience it themself.

I believe there is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

I’ve killed man before (in war). My biggest fear is not my sin, but where that son of a bitch is going and then I become envious and concerned at the same time.

I certainly can't debate you on it. But I will say, many here live in homes or visit them where someone died. You know, just a parent. What is it with bad dresses and bonnets that want people to come back and haunt someone?

If you are an atheist how do you justify this belief.

The thread is all over the map, but this is a simple question. No intelligent person can be completely atheist. No intelligent person can believe 100% in any modern religion.

The real answer isn't sexy, but it's true. No human walking knows the answer, and probably no human will ever know the answer of what, why, and how we exist.

There's a 100% certainty that things exist outside human's perception that would be classified as supernatural. Doesn't mean the supernatural is special, just means humans haven't reached a point of understanding the supernatural.

It's hubris that we somehow deserve or will eventually figure out the answers underpinning everything.

Enjoy the ride, be in awe of the improbability of our existence and don't make up fairy tales to explain the things that we don't understand.

Yes. Spent the night in a haunted room at the Roosevelt in NOLA. It wasn’t scary but we definitely were not alone. They were ghost from a party I guess. Laughing and happily chatting.
