For example - some dude I don't know or have any idea of in India decides to commit suicide, vs. not commit suicide. My mind doesn't "branch out" because of his decision - there is no difference to my consciousness so from my perspective I am still in a single branch of the "physical universe".
butterfly effect, yea i believe that is bogus too.

I agree a little bit, butterfly effect does have some place - IF said Indian suicide guy was just like a hermit in the wilderness, he can't impact me in this scenario.

But, IF i met said Indian guys friend on a plane and we had a conversation about his friends suicide - my mind / consciousness would briefly be forced to exist in two worlds; however, if i left the plane and never thought about or was impacted by that conversation again - my mind / consciousness would return to a single entity, existing concurrently in Indian guys friends multiverse - with any minimal impact on my psyche relegated to my common extreme subconscious.

You are only granted one life and when it ends, you're wiped from existence. There's no heaven or hell, you'll only live on in the memories of your loved ones and friends.

This seems to be an offshoot of the multiverse theory. The multiverse theory is absurd, and the way it is talked about in pop culture defies logic. Another version of "you" in an alternate universe is not really you. Even if it were in such a theory there are an infinite number of cases where you don't exist.

Answer this simple question... If the universe is infinitely old, how much older is the universe today than it was yesterday?

We cannot observe or measure an infinite object. It is a purely mathematical idea. It is a fanciful idea devoid of any hard scientific proof.

You wouldn't jump from branch to branch. The branches split off infinitely. If you die in this reality, this version of you would be unaware of your continued existence in other realities.

[Verse 1: Willie Nelson]
I was a highwayman
Along the coach roads I did ride
With sword and pistol by my side
Many a young maid lost her baubles to my trade
Many a soldier shed his lifeblood on my blade
The bastards hung me in the spring of twenty-five
But I am still alive

[Verse 2: Kris Kristofferson]
I was a sailor
I was born upon the tide
And with the sea I did abide
I sailed a schooner round the Horn to Mexico
I went aloft and furled the mainsail in a blow
And when the yards broke off they said that I got killed
But I am living still

[Verse 3: Waylon Jennings]
I was a dam builder across the river deep and wide
Where steel and water did collide
A place called Boulder on the wild Colorado
I slipped and fell into the wet concrete below
They buried me in that great tomb that knows no sound
But I am still around, I'll always be around and around and around and
Around and around

[Verse 4: Johnny Cash]
I fly a star-ship across the Universe divide
And when I reach the other side
I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can
Perhaps I may become a highwayman again
Or I may simply be a single drop of rain
But I will remain
And I'll be back again, and again and again and again and again

To me, that is a really nonsensical and lazy answer. Before we were born, we did not have a consciousness. So how can it be just like before we were born?

I've been accused of not having a conscious on many occasions.

The duality of which you postulate revolves around a prospective axiom that requires time. Is there a beginning? If there are infinite choices then no, the impossible isn't possible. This goes back to schroedingers feline friend tho because maybe the impossible is possible but we can never know because it isn't observable.

In conclusion the answer you seek is yes The Popeye's Chicken sandwich is really good. You should try it and make the observations for yourself. Your conscience will be rewarded now and depending on your beliefs of the infinite possibly in the future and alternate universes.

Then I'd be in the world of The Man in the High Castle and I'd kill myself rather than spend eternity in such a shitty TV show.

How can we believe in our consciousness living on if we don’t even fully understand what our consciousness IS yet. Let along WHERE it could exist IF that were the case.

It would be better if we were cognizant of our past lives during our present lives

Got me thinking outloud....Would a person that is mentally retarded or ill be re-incarnated into another retarded or mentally ill person.. I'm not trying to be funny but based on this idea that consciousness is somehow separate from the organ of the brain then how is mental illness explained within that paradigm.

1. The word the rest of us use is consciousness.

2. Most of this thread is nonsense.
The biggest nonsense posts are the ones where people want to assert or hope that because they believe a certain idea, for example, there are souls, you only live once, and if you believe it, you will be saved to heaven just because you believe the story.
Your post is similar, as if your point of view will somehow make Reality just what you want it to be.

Nope. What is so is so.
No hopeful childish popular belief makes reality conform to the story book ending.

The original op proposition is at least interesting.

I wish I had some edibles.

Idk if I believe this, but I am fully behind the fact that I live in a simulation.

None of you actually exist, but are simulated responses imbedded in a number of simulated threads that may or may not catch my interest.

The main thing that proves to me that this is a simulation is how retarded drivers are. It’s almost like I’m driving around in Grand Theft Auto. People driving 40 on the highway, people racing across four lanes to exit, people knowingly not in the correct left turn lane but jump over to cut me off to turn right to turn into some super shitty shopping center — literally none of it makes sense. No real person would ever drive like that.

My main question about the simulation is whether or not areas around the world are actually loaded in and simulating at all times or is the news and actions just simulated in a generator that spits out different results. I tend to lean to the former and that when we travel to other continents the oceans exist purely as a way to give the simulation time to ‘load in’ the other continents you are traveling to. Very easy to make this on a sphere as well. It’s wild to think about.

Interesting thoughts. We are energy, what if our true consciousness was a form of energy and could carry on as the body dies.

The infiniteness of the universe is truly incomprehensible
