Do you believe in our jury system?

12 jurors are forced to make a unanimous decision on guilt. It has been proven to fail hundreds of times over. I think bench trials, where the judge determines the outcome are superior and have a higher probability of a correct outcome. Too many times uneducated jurors who are unfamiliar with the law base their decision on emotion.

No. It doesn't help everyone and their mother tries to get out of jury duty.

No other way to do it. Judges are political figures. Trials would become political. We would be saying we wanted juries if we had bench trials

Nowadays it’s the people too lazy or dumb or both that serve on juries.

In Louisiana, if you are entitled to a jury, you have the option to waive it and request a trial by judge if you do so timely.

If we lived in a country with a real government instead of a farcical, dysfunctional joke of one, I would rather not have juries.

'As opposed to what?' would be my follow up.

I believe it is our best option and necessary. However, I do not believe a judge or jury should be able to take someone’s life. In theory, I believe in the death penalty for murders and child predators but I don’t think this works in practice how it does. Too many people have gotten off of death row.
Another huge problem is district attorneys. They’re typically not trying to do what is best, they’re just trying to get their conviction rate up.

Be careful what you wish for. Having a bad, corrupt, or one way political judge can wreck your life. I see it everyday just on the civil side.

We will soon turn that over to AI machines. They will try, convict and punish the guilty within a few minutes with a simple eye scan during the course of a few carefully determined questions, administered on the road side immediately after arrest.
Punishment will be limited to a simple slap on the wrist, heavy financial fine, sentencing to organ donation facility or death. Will eliminate 98% of all crime within a few years.
It is in beta testing right now in China.

Why are you trying to take away our constitutional rights, dickwad

I’d prefer death panels

Often doesn’t function properly in black majority jurisdictions.

I believe in people doing their civic duty, but can you blame them? People have jobs to go to, money to earn, families to take care of, etc. They don't wanna lose days or sometimes weeks of their time because some filth had to break the law.
