Then you don't believe in people doing their civic duty. We all have jobs to go to, money to earn, families to take care of, etc. Jury duty is the social cost of living in a civilized society. Anyone who complains about getting a jury summons (which, lets be honest, usually results in a temporary inconvenience) has probably also complained about a jury awarding money to the lady who was burned with hot McDonald's coffee. I.e., uninformed, opinionated and selfish. "I want nice things but I don't want to do anything to get them."

Absolutely I can. Freedoms and rights have costs. The 2A is paid for with spilled innocent blood every year but it doesn't mean we should repeal it. There are droves of people every year that try every lame excuse to not do their civic duty while many of them think they are "good Americans". They are special little snowflakes that think their lives are so important they can't be bothered to participate in one of the things that makes our country great.
In general, I believe strongly in the jury system it is damn hard to convince 12 (or 6/9) people of something that the information provided at trial doesn't support. I also think on the whole juries do a better job with fact questions than do judges.

To take up for jurors, our system is now basically asking for the impossible. As evidence moves from eye witness testimony (inherently unreliable) to DNA, accident reconstruction, etc., we rely way more on scientific principles and expert explanation. Unfortunately, many jurors are simply incapable of comprehending this information.
We should consider moving towards professional juries.
We should consider moving towards professional juries.

Unfortunately this. We waste hundreds of millions at a time to expand courthouses, but virtually 0 on improving legal infrastructure... like more public defenders to keep the system moving.

If we were actually tried by a jury of our “peers” things would be slot different.
a person who is equal to another in abilities, qualifications, age, background, and social status
Not 4 random people of the opposite race who automatically are discriminatory, 4 old ladies who still write checks to pay the grocery store, and 4 random idiots who don’t have a job so they had nothing better to do but be on a jury.

I have been struck and booted from every jury pool (3 times). The key is to show up dressed very nicely, perhaps a suit and tie or just a tie, and look/speak too intelligently. Yes, if you want to be left out of the selection, this is the way to do it.

There is another way to do it, professional jurors. I would trust them more than regular folk. I’m a working professional, my peers should be people who are professionals as well.

Yes. I doubt I'm ever involved in a criminal trial, but if I am, you're damn right I want intelligent people on that jury.
