If you want to see evidence of our Creator just look at something like the intricate workings of the human inner ear or the cardiovascular system or really any of the various systems that all have to work together for life to exist. To suppose these things are the result of an infinite series of random mutations is akin to thinking you could throw piles of junk over a cliff and expecting them to randomly fall into place on the way down making a space shuttle.
So you clearly don't believe in Evolution.

Please go find something else to do. You have nothing to contribute to the OP.
The OP is this:

Do you accept the notion of the Big Bang as the origin of our universe?
We are discussing the acceptance of the big bang and a you seem to be doing is trying to shut down any discussion. So... It's really you that has yet to add a single thing to the OP. Or answer any of my questions.

What do you do when divine revelation conflicts with science?
It doesn't. I have yet to find one single example of that happening.
Can you provide an example?

The problem is that invading theists want to hijack science threads and make it science vs. religion.
I haven't once tried to do that.

That makes it hard for discussions
Your closed mind and repeated efforts to silence anyone who doesn't hold your beliefs is the only thing stifling discussion. But don't let facts and reality get in the way of your invented victim complex.

I agree. And that in no way at all conflicts with Christianity.

You specifically mentioned the Christian God. That implies you think you understand something about this supposed being.
I don't pretend the understand anything about God. Christianity is how I perceive him in my life. I understand that other people know him differently than I do. But it is impossible for me to understand him as he exists outside the realm of my reality. For the record, I roundly reject man-made constructs of religion. Please know there is a difference between general Christianity and Roman Catholicism.
However, I absolutely believe he exists. I can't explain to you why and I don't pretend to be able to explain it to you. Just like I couldn't explain depth to you if we were both 2D.
If you don't believe, that's OK. It's not up to me to change you. To be uncharacteristically real with you for a moment, I would ask that you attempt to keep and open mind and an open heart in your life. There's no reason to steel yourself against things you can't understand.
But I'm more than happy to discuss the possibilities of his existence with you as I enjoy philosophical and existential conversations when everyone has an open mind. Just as I am happy to discuss science and theorems and proofs with you.

I believe that the big bang was the beginning of our current universe. I also believe that over eons, the energy driving the expansion will be exhausted and a collapse will occur. This collapse will reach a critical density and energy, causing a new big bang and re-expansion. This will go on for a really long eternity as a wave/pulsation of our universe.

Personally, I don’t think we have the secrets of the universe figured out yet. Look how far off our beliefs were just a few hundred years ago. I’m suppose to believe we have it all figured out now? I think we’ll learn much more over the next hundred years and laugh about what we think we know now.

I absolutely believe thats possible.

This is where we have a problem. Mans every attempt to explain what I highlighted in your first quote is an absolute joke. What makes you think that Christians have a monopoly on religious truth? You should have stopped at..
quote:
being who exists outside of the dimensions of time and space that we occupy
^This is totally reasonable.
v This is not...

I agree. It's where most of these discussions break down. Christianity is the way I was introduced to an existential being greater than myself.
quote:

I don't. No one has a monopoly on truth. Because we're humans. And humans are greatly and inherently flawed people. That's backed up by more science than anything else in this thread so far.

Religious threads always do. But the ones with good discussion theyll anchor and let us continue talking instead of just outright deleting it.

Yes. Yes it does. Thats not what Christianity teaches. They teach that God created everything and that a guy named Jesus was his protege on Earth and did a bunch of other fantastic shite that doesnt fit with anything we know about the physical world.
Just admit that you like the stories of Christianity and its comfortable because your childhood, family members, other people you respect or most the people in your life today are on board. Just admit that and its an acceptable answer and we forgive your lack of intellectual consistency based on emotional reaction. We are all still human and prone to it. Some of us just fight it off better. Doesnt make you less of a man or an idiot.

Dang, it’s not a religion thread it’s about the Big Bang.

Proof of God? You see God in His creation. If you don’t see Him it’s because you reject and choose to not see him.
As I've gotten older the opposite has occurred in my view of God. I believed in God as a child and young man and thought I had an idea of what God is and what that relationship meant to me. The more I observed the world and learned about the complexities of life the more it became difficult to contemplate a being that is responsible for all of creation. Add to that the realization that my beliefs were for the most part informed by other people that were frankly less educated than myself and I just become comfortable with not being able to comprehend God. I' still pray in case some ethereal being is listening but I would not say I "know" or have faith in God.

Fair enough. This is a reasoned approach to religion that even the most ardent atheist can accept.
quote:
For the record, I roundly reject man-made constructs of religion.
But yet you are part of one. Christianity is man-made. All our interpretations of the idea of an omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient being are by definition, "man-made" since, by your own admission, its...
quote:
impossible for me to understand him as he exists outside the realm of my reality
...as it is for all of us because specific claims of such a beings existence cant be proven or disproven yet all Western religions attempt to do this in abundance and some Eastern religions too.
If you are truly only dedicated to the general idea of such a being without buying into any specifics of its existence then you would find more philosophical consistency in a spiritual religion like Daoism, Paganism, Sikhism, or even Shintoism if Nationalism is your thing.
