Yes, when I was interested in leaving my last job. I've rarely logged into it in the past 5 years or so though.

I got my last two roles from LinkedIn. Takes 2 sec to accept a request and if you aren't interested then don't respond or just do the autofilled no thanks. It's not that hard

I only personally know about 5% of my LinkedIn followers. The rest are recruiters. I accept or decline them solely based on my mood at the moment

I hate linked in. It’s nothing but scammers now. Nonstop soliciting. Get a real job assholes

I haven’t updated LinkedIn in 5 years

no, because in the IT world if there is a recruiter looking to fill it, it means it doesn't pay enough and I've got years of experience ahead of whatever duties they would have me doing, so it's a waste of time.

I’m in a niche field and don’t get many recruiters but a lot of random people in the industry. I just accept anyone now and if they are annoying unfollow them. It’s good for the street cred to have a bunch of connections.

I will accept them if they contact me with a specific job I might actually be interested in and we have a conversation. Randos just looking for connection count or recruiters hitting me up for entry level jobs who obviously have not bothered to read my “impressive” profile get ignored.

Passive job search is just about the only useful thing on LinkedIn now. News feed is nothing but a bunch of narcissistic cut and paste humble brags, annoying salespeople, and corporate boot lickers claiming to be so inspired by company X’s mission to make a better widget.

No. But I will respond to messages. I try to keep my connections limited to people I actually know
Bruh this ain't facebook. The whole point of linkedin is to broaden your professional connections.

I get an invite or message every day about improving my departments workflow or file security

No, and even if I'm interviewing with them I tell them why. Accepting a recruiter Linkedin has to be a huge red flag to your current company.
What if I use same recruiters to hire??

Yeah, I have no idea what that Pats fan Jcoyre1 is talking about. Companies have better shite to do than stalk you on LinkedIn.

In the last 7 years, I have been able to land 2 solid jobs thanks to LinkedIn Careers.
2015-2021 first job
2021-present current job
The constant "friend requests" is annoying but just keep ignoring I guess.

No, not a one. Linkedin is quickly becoming an annoyance. I own a company in the oilfield. We do valves for deepwater oil & Gas. 90% of my Linkedin connections are engineers and project managers. About 8 months ago Linkedin in sent me a job alert that I would be well suited for.

No.
And lots of females stating our in HR jobs get those recruiter jobs so that’s probably true on a female in her 20s

My favorites are the recruiters that say how awesome your profile is and then offer you an exciting chance to interview for a position 4 levels below your current job. Yeah you did a lot of reading there. More like they searched for a key word and blasted out auto messages to everyone that popped up.

If it's that great you don't need to hire some doofus with his pronouns in his profile to find somebody for it.
You don't hire recruiters, they've already been hired by people looking to fill roles that you'll never hear about otherwise.
It's a big, big world out there Mingo. Never hurts to have connections...
