do we have anyone here who works for Lysol

I’m guessing that it’s getting rerouted to hospitals / nursing homes?

Makes no sense why there are no cleaning supplies being restocked

Call the local hardware stores and see when they are getting a shipment. The supermarkets and dollar stores run out of that stuff first.

They had to close the whole warehouse bc one person tested positive.

I saw a guy roll out a pallet of TP at the laffy Whole Foods like 3 weeks ago, dude was swarmed and had people plucking packs of toilet paper off the palet before he even had a chance to slice the protective wrapping with his box cutter. Absolute scenes

I’m talking Windex & Tilex type cleaners
My WalMart has Pledge & that’s it
I understand Lysol & Clorox Cleanup type cleaners, I don’t understand why there is no Windex or toilet cleaner

then you havent been looking

most stores have lots of detergent and dish soaps as well as windex and toilet cleaners and many also have the generic bleach based cleaners for stoves and counter tops

its only the sanitizing supplies like lysol and clorox wipes and the spray bottles that arent being restocked, those go straight to hospitals and doctors offices

Lysol and Gojo (Purell) are pumping out ever unit they can, but the demand is too much and most is being routed to hospitals and the government.

you should contact Lysol and demand to be apart of their Shareholder Board. I bet your opinion would be valued and make a huge difference.

Most of these companies only produce enough to sell based on models. They do not keep large warehouses full of the stuff like they used to. It's a cost cutting measure which saves them billions a year. So when an emergency like this hits, they have no stock.

Second, even the stuff that's "made in the USA" uses ingredients sourced from China and China isn't exporting it right now (or at least not to the degree they used to).

And, finally, most of what they are producing is going almost exclusively to hospitals and government agencies. If you are just an average Joe, you won't be able to get a can of Lysol probably until mid-summer.

Just check Amazon. You will see even Amazon is not selling to the public. All of their cleaning supplies are labeled "for hospital and government use only."

It's not as if these factories only run at 30% during normal times and can just turn the dial on the machines up to 11. Excess capacity is typically just wasted capital and factories are planned and built to run as close to 100% capacity as possible to meet normal demand. Investing dollars in building excess capacity that just sits there unused until a once in a lifetime event occurs is bad business.
