Do VWs still fall off a cliff at 100k miles?

I'm a Japanese vehicle type of person but the wife is looking at this new VW teamwah or something like that but I'm not interested in paying tens of thousands of dollars for a vehicle that is going to start having problems on the road at 100k miles and I don't trust vw right now.

The Tiguan isn't completely terrible looking. Just pony up the bucks and buy her a Cayenne Turbo.

Never heard of this, but, IMO all newer cars seem to blow by 100k without too much trouble. Dependability for almost all manufacturers has really increased in the last decade.

Any time you own a VW or Volve, expect shite to break and be expensive. I currently own a VW, and had Volves in the past. For whatever reason, I always go back to them.

That's the Touareg you're thinking of. They are built on the same platform - essentially a 'cheaper' Cayenne but not by much.

I bought a Jetta when I was 20 because I needed something with good mileage. I think I put 135k on it and it still ran like a champ.

Only issue I ever had was the belt to the water pump just up and broke but that was an easy fix.

what years are you looking at. I know a guy who bought a 2011 and VW is paying him what he paid for it in 2011, plus some hush money, to take it back.

130,00 miles $3800

2005 V8 $4900

I was offered $3000 for my 1997 4runner the other day by a car lot.

Owned a 2010 Jetta and drove it 65k with no issues besides regular maintenance costing more than the average car. Car was totaled earlier this year parked on the side of the road in nola.... I miss that thing was a great car.

My ex had a jetta that wouldn't go in reverse shortly after 130k. Traded it in making sure not to pull into any dead end parking spots.

The engine will be fine well beyond 100K miles. It's all the other stuff that starts crapping out on VWs (A/C, power windows, etc.).

my next door neighbor had a brand new touareg and within the first year half of the internal electronics went out.

he was in the shop constantly trying to find the electrical gremlins and while it was covered under warranty, it started getting old constantly having to leave it at the dealer only for more electrical problems to develop.

its not a matter of 'will the dealer cover it' its a matter of the constant ongoing headaches of being in the shop.

looked at a list og 2005's with 120k+ and most vehicles are all around that price.

I have had good experience with the VW diesels.

I would love to get a used Golf for a commuter car, but the electrical issues remains my number one concern.
