Worrying about missing a football game over your brothers wedding in a beautiful destination location is peak white culture

Yes. It sounds like you have many excuses not to go. Just pick one.

Yes they do.

My cousin got married in Ireland for just that reason: unwanted trashy family

The brides family being the trash

Tell them you got stuck on the interstate behind someone towing 3 shitty cars and missed your flight.

We did it to escape everyone wanting an invite to some sort of event except the most immediate friends and family. Plus it was easily drivable.

I did this. I didn't want people to show and even told them that, but of course we weren't going to tell them they absolutely couldn't. For some reason, quite a few showed up anyway.

Then why even invite them? For a teapot on your Amazon wedding registry?

Ridiculous.

It’s definitely cracking me up that posters are calling people poor for not wanting to go while also saying they did it because they didn’t want people to show

I’m okay with it but pick an affordable place. My sister in law got married and picked the most expensive place possible it seemed. Wanted to puke when they handed me my hotel bill and it was a decent but into 5 figures (of course I wasn’t overly shocked but still made me nauseous). Flights were expensive as shite too

If they don’t want them to show instead of having “Wedding Invitations “ printed they should have “Wedding Announcements Postcards” printed and mail them to family and friends from the destination. That would be a lot more appropriate.

“Just wanted to let everyone know, me,
Cardi B and her stankin arse are getting married today on our Carnival Cruise. Thanks for all the love and support and Lysol.”

I’d send them a fricking diaper genie, and an anus bleaching coupon just for being considerate enough not to invite me.

They don’t want you to go. They likely want to enjoy their time together and have their wedding actually be about them without family ruining everything with their bullshite. A destination wedding is a great way to say you invited someone while also having a chance of them not showing up

thats retarded. Don’t invite someone if you don’t want them to show up.

When you do a destination wedding and invite guest it’s an understanding you would welcome/appreciate if they joined you but you don’t expect them to.

As opposed to relegating to having your wedding in your shite hole podunk hometown, 15min up the road from your brother and stepmom. It’s an understanding that you expect them to attend. Your autistic queer brother can watch the couple lowlights later of the bottom feeding Husker game.

We didn't. We told them what we were doing. Didn't send out invites.

I didn't say I invited people, but it's not like it was a secret I was getting married.

my niece got married in a castle in Denmark last year.
Got the wedding invite.
Sent a wedding gift and nice card.

Not sure it was ever even brought up in conversation on not attending. It’s not all that complex.
Unless you’re a woman and you can’t function without complicating things.
