Yep...you are trying to appeal to oldsters like me who now do the hiring and that is a way to do it.

I think writing a thank you letter or email shows your writing skills and attention to detail. I mean what’s the worst that can happen? I wouldn’t think someone in a supervisory position would not hire you if you sent a thank you.

While appreciated, it is kind of uncomfortable. I don't respond, which makes me feel rude. The Thank You note has zero bearing on my hiring decision.

I can’t get into the “omg I’m so thankful you gave me the opportunity to maybe impress you enough to allow me to work for you” mindset

An email to each person you interview with is proper etiquette.

As a hiring manager, expected, because of social norms, pointless and irrelevant

My cursive is shitty but I only buy the finest parchment

If you can seal it with a wax stamp you are really going to get the job

It is a buyer's market and has been for more than a decade. Why wouldn't you do everything in your power to get the job?

Such a telltale sign not only are you remedial, but have never held a management position to receive one.

Sad.

Girls do it a lot more than dudes from what I’ve experienced. I’ve also seen multiple girls write thank you letters to just about every person in the office at the end of an internship. We’re talking 50 or so notes. I respect it.

I write a handwritten card to every single client I have many times per year. Well, 3 each I would say.

My mom made me write thank you letters. I despise it. I sent a thank you to my last boss, who I still work for. Didn't get a business card and ASSUMED the email addresses were uniform, they weren't. He never got it. It didn't matter.

Just a different mindset Sao. Sadly this generation knows very little about what professionalisms is and don’t care to know.

Stupid little shits think they’re owed something and when it comes down to two equally qualified people, the one who made an effort will always come out ahead.

No, I've always gotten the verbal offer at the interview.

I mean, retention is all I have. And if I were a young man wanting a career with my ideal company, you bet your arse I would email and send a card to the hiring manager. If rhw OP thinks that's a weak move, well, good luck, Kid.
