Every time I have had them they never dissolve and I have to get them cut out. Docs of the OT how often do these actually disolve? I got some currently that haven’t dissolved and I don’t want to go back to the doc.

You have to pour rubbing alcohol on them.

Brilliant surgeon Leonard Nimoy tried to kill a guy by using them, but Lt Columbo caught on to his game

I have them right now post-wisdom tooth extraction and never been so glad to see them start to dissolve. If you have them in the mouth, it seems salt water rinses help them along.

No, never, their invention was completely useless. There was zero study to test their effectiveness, they were immediately put into proactive upon invention.

Different ones dissolve at different rates. Many people use absorbable under the skin and nonabsorbable for the skin itself, which means it has to be removed.
People tend to use chromic gut or vicryl in the mouth which really take 2-4 weeks to fully dissolve and usually end up falling out before they dissolve all the way.
On the skin depends on where and what they close with. Fast gut tends to dissolve in about 1-2 weeks. We can do absorbable under the skin you never see. I've seen some people use chromic on the skin itself, which takes several weeks to dissolve, so usually needs to be cut out or itl'l leave tracks.

Clip them with fingernail clippers, the pull the rest out with your Leatherman once the wound is healed.

My dog got them when his balls were taken. I never examined him to see if the stitches went away but I assume they did.

Sure they do. After my appendictomy I had three incisions with stiches. All three dissolved and fell out in due course.
Yeah, a little coercsion was required to remove the stubs, but they worked a treat.

So you’re saying I’ll probably have to go to the doctor?

My husband had two in his eye after retinal detachment and cataract surgery. They did not dissolve and he had to have them dug out surgically.

I had them in my sack and they did the job.

I had them for wisdom teeth and I ended up pulling them out because they were so aggravating.

The ones I had for my nuts dissolved

Please provide scholarly evidence of this theory.

I just had a huge gash on my shin and the docs used those to stitch me up - They were all gone in 3 weeks. Had some problems with the wound bleeding a bit.

They work every time. Would you rather them dissolve too early?
