Maui might be the greatest place in the US

Honestly it seems awful to live there. All things considered.

Hawaii has interstate highways. Wrap your head around that.

I also think a lot of those stories make their way back to the mainland via service members who maybe weren't as well-behaved as they let on when retelling, and attracted negative attention. And I say that as a former service member.
Nah. They are polite and generous as hell to tourists. But if you consider taking land away from families of native Hawaiians you are scum of the earth.

Visitors over new years…. Not the tropical paradise it’s portrayed to be…
Beautiful beaches… although some small…. And cool to have mountains in one side and ocean in the other.
Food sucked generally. Everything is expensive. A lot of run down, trashy places everywhere., homeless camps everywhere. Couldn’t tell if they were homeliness camps, or people just beach camping.

You mean like in the lower 48 with native Americans?

Did you need a crowbar to force that in there?
Or did you just ham fist it.
Most people of Indian descent really don’t care, especially ones who don’t live on reservations. And it’s not like others are trying to move in there.
Similar harm yes, but one had had the book closed for 150+ years.

Yup. Maui is awesome. At the top of the extinct volcano, you feel like you’re on another planet. 10,000 feet elevation looking into the caldera.
I think you can spend the night in it at some camps at the bottom.

You do realize that the reservations they live on aren’t their historical homeland? They were in beautiful parts of the country and were forced out to live in arguably the worst parts of the country.
Dumb statement. You clearly don’t know any Indians.

Got hammered with some Aussie navy guys.
Those guys and the ROK Marines could party like no other. RIMPAC and UFL were always a good time.

Napali Coast/north Kauai is one of most beautiful places on Earth, easily.
Obviously expensive AF to reside anywhere all of necessities have to be flown/shipped into island.
Kawai is beautiful enough for Zuckerberg to buy a few hundred acres of piss off the locals

Going to Honolulu next Wednesday. Never been to Hawaii so I'm pumped to check it out for 5 days

I’ve driven it as well. I love Maui. Headed there shortly, cannot flipping wait.

The back side after the Road to Hana was a great surprise in itself. Didn’t know it would be miles of tall green grass flowing with the wind on one side and super blue ocean on the other. Going to church in Maui has new meaning.
