Remember when I said I was sitting around playing video games, waiting for test results? Yeah, my foot was touching a radiator and I didn't know it. 3rd degree burns, first four toes. Pinkie was spared.
How do you not realize you’re touching a radiator in your own damn home wtf

Why does the quality of my health care and my quality of life have to depend on who I work for and what insurance companies they choose to work with?
Uh, because they are paying the majority of the premiums to the insurance company.
Is this guy for real?

Not really. He had uncontrolled diabetes while he admittedly had great insurance which led to most of these complications and problems.
This person is an unhealthy piece of shite who used thousands upon thousands of dollars of everyone else’s money because he was too dumb to not put his neuropathic foot on a radiator.
His wife is a diabetic piece of shite too. At least they had to pay for a portion of the surgeon’s fees.
This guy should be dead but for $250 a year for the past however many years, other productive members of society and a group of physicians have kept him alive. He should be writing a thank you letter.

His orig insurance still covers the post care after 12/31 regardless

I should say, is this really an argument for universal health care? Given that he clearly paid zero attention to his body
I'm sure this guy would like everyone to pay 40% in taxes to cover his health care.

Pity healthcare will never be viewed as a universal right in this country any time soon.
No scarce resource can ever be a universal right.
Real universal rights don't cost anyone else anything: the right to speak your mind, the right to defend oneself (with one's own fists or weapons), etc.

Yeah, what kind of idiot has his foot on a radiator and doesn't feel it?
Somebody with diabetic neuropathy.

For some reason, this seems like a reasonable price to get a toe amputated
As someone who usually amputates multiple toes a week, I wish that were true. It's a 15 minute procedure. Most patients that need it done have no sensation so you could do it without any anesthesia.

Is no one else bothered by the fact that the OP used “of” instead of “have” in his title?

Say a guy needed a toe or 10...you’re the dude who can make that happen?

Scruffy couldn’t move beyond that.
