Does anyone have any input on which ones are best (23 and Me, Ancestry, etc.)? Any personal experience? I am looking to get one of these as a gift but not sure which to go with even after research.

Unless you don't care that someone has not only all of your personal info, but genetic info as well, none of them.

Just Google which one the FBI recommends or commit a felony and the government will take your DNA for free.

That's the info I'm seeing from some recent reports on the net. Send off to 2 different companies and get back 2 sets of conflicting results is what some researchers found.

The Ancestry one is good if you have an account on the site and want to make connections with unknown relatives to help build your family tree. I am not sure how good it is if not connected with an Ancestry account/tree.

Bill Burr talks about this in his standup routine. Watch it, and get back to us?

No they're not.

But in all fairness you have to be intelligent enough to complete the test properly.

Got 23andme for Xmas and did the ancestry portion last month.

Results came back pretty much as we expected given where my great-grandparents are from, but got to find out roughly what percentage of each lineage I can trace back to.

Didn't give them my full name, birthday, or any contact info.

They've all been a pretty big help in closing a few cold cases.

multiple times identical twins have sent off their samples to different companies and had results that were different
