DMV reasonable wait times

Where to go? Baton Rouge or outlying areas? Gonzales, Baker, Central or wherever.

For simple renewals? Go to a private title piece that does licenses. You'll pay a little more but spend less than 10 minutes of your day.

For complicated stuff I send people to Reserve or Boutte locally. The OMV in Harvey and on Veterans in NOLA sucks so bad. If you need a reinstatement you have to go to a big omv and you'll likely wait around three hours.

Definitely not Gonzales

Last time I went to express one on Perkins and Siegen and it was about a 2 hour wait from opening time

Best one I went to prior to COVID was Walker

Yeah they could charge me double what they do and I'd still go to one of these.

There is a 3rd party OMV office on Range in Denham that can do all your shite that
Moves fairly well.

Or you can go to the DMV office in New Roads. Never a line when I’ve been in there.

Gonzale

only takes about an hour to tell they can't help you. Then on to the express in Baton Rouge where it takes two hours and $26 but they can help you.

Can’t go to a title company. They are the one that informed me that my registration is blocked due to a lapse of insurance. Insurance on vehicle was cancelled July 1 2020. I didn’t take ownership of the vehicle until September 23 2020. They trying to charge me $525 ????

Port Allen is where I used to go. In and out in 15-20 mins. Practically zero wait time. Avoid Independence Boulevard at all costs.

Those places like Ascension Auto Title, I don't think they do everything that a OMV does.

Plus when will the OMV actually take payment form other than cash?

BTR does appointments and it works great. In and out in like 20 minutes tops.

I think they all do since covid, I did this recently and was in and out in a similar time frame. You can make appointments on express lane

Yep they do it by appointments now. I had to get a new license plate not long ago and I was in and out in 10 minutes.

Do they still offer to let you cut the line for an extra fee?

Was always hilarious watching the glare of people who had been there for over an hour and I get taken care of 5-10 mins after I walked in.

There’s one just across the bridge in Port Allen. If you get there when they open it’s usually pretty quick.

You cannot go into a field office to take care of a block. You have to call 225-925-6146 option #3. It will take a long time to get through. Keep calling. A field office cannot reinstate any longer.
