Sadly kids would rather play video games and with iPads than go to water parks anymore

That’s a symptom and not the cause.

Society is so trashy now that people don’t want to interact. That’s the problem.

Especially a place that has always had a bad reputation for treating employees

I didn’t understand the thought process of abandoning the water park for the rides so I figured the end was definitely near, you can probably operate the ride side of things with much fewer employees. COVID likely played a part in the expediting the downfall, a couple of years with no real revenue probably had them playing catch up on many things

Always a good summer day at blue bayou and some dip n dots you couldn’t get elsewhere.

How soon can we get a nice, nostalgic documentary on this place. Seems there’s a documentary for everything these days. Blue Bayou/Dixie Landin’ should have one

i dont see how an amusement park in ANY major metro area is a viable business these days. unless they make ticket prices sky-high as well as placing the park way out in the suburbs, cultcha is almost certain to destroy the park within a couple of years. and even with high ticket prices and suburb location, it will probably still overtake it.

I had a tough time deciding our annual summer vacation to either Dixie Landing or Epic Universe.. so glad we decided at the last minute to pick Epic. It was a very difficult family decision we had to make

That guys whole business model was pay kids $5/hr because they are "seasonal" and the business is classified as amusement and therefore not subject to minimum wage. They then promise them a nice bonus at the end of the year if they make it all the way (so they keep coming to work). And then fire them a week or 2 before the end of the season so he doesn't have to pay bonuses.

The guy is an absolute piece of shite.

He has said that multiple times. That place is never reopening. It's going to be just like the water park in Lacassine in a few short years.

$5 was generous. I think it was $3.75 when I was there

If someone buys it and spends some money to fix it up and re-open, they need to either charge a lot more for season passes or do away with them entirely. Fewer groups of teenagers running around would improve the experience for families that’ll spend more money in the park on concessions and souvenirs.

Buc-ee's should buy that property. That spot right off the interstate would print money for them.

Please no. That intersection can barely handle the traffic it has already.

we'd really need someone with frick, you money to come in and take it over, just as a tax write off... i'm sure a water park, with regulations and red tape, is likely a fricking nightmare to deal with, but someone rich enough to not give a frick about profits, etc, that's about the only hope for that place...

Would make a perfect vehicle for laundering money.

All of the themed parks in Orlando don’t seem to have any issues. It’s just as hot there as Louisiana

Did you really just compare a place like Disney or Universal to a few fair rides set up off the interstate in Louisiana? There are tons of indoor rides, shows, places to eat, etc at a place like Disney. Plus, the rides they have there and at Universal are actually top tier.

Not shocked at all and pretty sure they were trying to sell off the rides not too long ago.

I mean a good chunk of Disney and universal rides are inside and the ones that aren’t have the lines in the shade

Not a very good comparison

That’s the kind of person who owns it now.
