that’s very true, I’m a sane and rational person but that was definitely considered in the decision matrix

Should they also consider the non custodial parent’s new spouse when calculating it?
Of course.
The kid has to families now. If the parents make a decision (re-marriage) that increases the family income, the kid is going to benefit from that. How do you not take that into account either way?

No, but it makes one living arrangement better for the kid…which is the point of all of this. It should be about the well-being of the kid, not about “holding parents accountable”.

Just ran that calculator and it would cost me around $3500. My wife could basically not work for as lo big as the kids were paying her

I’m a teacher going through a divorce, if my calculations are correct, after bills and everything, I’ll have about $300 a week for food and gas to break even. It sounds impossible. I’m screwed.

The main flaw with the system is that it doesn’t take into account the child’s costs and needs at the father’s home.
A father will spend just as much—if not more, than the custodial mother. The exact same furnishings, clothes, and food purchases still need to be made for every other weekend visits. Only difference is most of the food goes bad in the meantime and the clothes spend more time in the closet.

Seems to me they should just come up with a minimum cost of the kid, irrespective of what each parent makes, and the parents split that cost. 50/50.

You think $800 a month to support two kids is too much?
Well considering in this scenario he’s covering health insurance and after school care its probably closer to 1200/mo.

Rule #1 of marriage club. Always get a pre-nup. Period. Accept no substitute.
You can’t write a prenup to cover child support.
Fellas/Ladies reaching 50 if you are unhappy and have parents with wealth this your time to bail before they pass, and you get hit with another huge bill. Fix your issues now or forever hold your peace.
Just an fyi to all the older fellas who should cover their asses.

inheritance isn’t considered joint funds unless co-mingled

Right and good luck having money to woo a new woman.
Sounds like it’s time to think about making cash on the side you don’t have to report.

Have you had to explain to your wife why she isnt allowed on those accounts yet?
Even the optics will cause issues.

Nor should it..
Trying to get out of child support because of what the Ex Wifes new husband makes is a very narcissistic way of looking at things

If this is your strategy, make sure your state doesn't have common law marriage.
