This whole scenario ignores the bigger problem, which is that, eventually, Jane will realize that she is with a man who can't provide her with their own space, that she has to live with other men in order to have a roof over her head. This is all true, and eventually this will come to fruition, at which point Jane will probably ditch Bill as well for being equally unable to provide for her, she'll run off with some fancy used car dealer she met at Superior Grill, and John and Bill will be stuck jerking off to midget Venezuelan clown porn and splitting their internet 50/50.
